I would like to recognize and give my thanks to a guy who has mentored me in rollers, Brent Martindale. There have been several guys, including him, who have shared birds with me and experience too. Brent has been the most influential in my learning about flying and breeding rollers. Often times he would share little pieces of advice or an experience he had. Other times he would share a suggestion or a theory and encourage me to experiement on it and learn it for myself. He has always been receptive to my feedback on what I had learned or other questions I may have. He's been excited and happy for my sucesses and shared in my dissapointment too. A good freind. I hope that if or when the time comes, I can help some new roller fan to have as satisfying an experience as I have had thus far. I suppose most all of you have had similar influences that shaped you in the sport. I invite you to share who and what.

Jon,your post struck home for me. I once said I had no mentors, that no longer holds true. There are several people I need to acknowledge. So here goes in no particular order. Dr.LaRon Doucet, for his generosity & friendship. One word descibes Doc. A true gentlman. Tony C.,which if I hadn't stumbled across RPDC in 2005 I probably would have never gotten back in to rollers. Last but certainly not least Jim Sherwood, for his friendship, knowledge and patience for my endless questioning. ---------- Ron Borderline lofts

George Patterson, Carthage North Carolina..par excellent Southern Gentleman that obtained birds from the originals and shared with the world. Flew hard, helped many many. He has been gone for a couple of years but his Pepperhead's, Smiths and Plonas live on with his name attached..but earning their own reputation by the action in the air. George was a man among men.
