hello all, i have gotten pensom's book finally and i have been reading it he says in there when the bird is hatched after 18 DAYS he would remove the bird and put it with other birds well my ?? is i have 3 pairs and none have laid yet but when they do, not all at the same time i'm sure, how am i to train the sqeaker leave it w/ the parents for a while or what? he also said that if the young bird is left alone to long that they a harder to work with ya want to train them as young as possible but if i don't have any other birds could i put him in w/ like 2 older birds to help w/ training i hope this makes sense kevin

Kevin I always take my birds at 18 day old away from parents but I put them on feed tray and let them watch the parents eat and when they eat on their own I start dipping their beaks in water to make sure they getting their drink and know where the waterer is but I really don't keep them away from the parents I hold away for a little while through out the day but put them back in with them so they get fed more from them ..sort of like play with their minds but not until I'm sure they are ready to be on their own is when I decide they going to the kitbox but only with youngsters so they don't get beat on.maybe 20 0r 23 days old ,..they get to know you better an early recognition of their owner and learn their surroundings and become highly intelligent ..I myself learn that from his book.then I do the 4 weeks training that he talks about to get them up and in the air been doing it that way for years...you will learn what suits you better taking a little from here and there with time good luck... ---------- If there is no enemy inside the enemy outside can't do you no harm.. Ralph.
