Fresno, first let's start on your birds condition. How are they? Are they fat, slim, skinny? How long are they flying? Do you check the barameter before you fly them? Have they done this before if so how long have they been doing it? And last but not least what family are you flying?

It can be managed with feed. Understand what each grain given effects on the birds.

these birds are the remaining birds of last year, there the perfect size not skinny and not fat.
they fly usally 2-3 hours on a regular basis.

and i only fly on good calm days so i dont think i need to check a barometer.

i tryed all that i know.
i switched feed 4 times already.
first i was feeding winners cup.
then i switched to strighn milo
and then pallets,
now i stil feeding them corn only.

these birds are weird.
if i starve them, that only makes them go higher
if i skip flying for a couple days, they'll disappear into sky.

so help me out here guys.

Fresno, try straight wheat for a while and if they are still up there try 50% milo and 50% wheat. Also the amount has a lot to do with it. Try a regular soup can 11oz. and adjust up or down from there.

KEEP IN MIND THAT IT TAKES TIME TO SEE THE EFFECTS OF A PICTUCLAR FEEDING PROGRAM. fOR MY BIRDS ITS ABOUT A WEEK. sorry bout the caps lock,I know if I give my flyers corn or pellets Ill need bionoculars and a lawn chair..LOL Also if you compete understand it only a couple of time a year, so allow your birds to choose alittle bit of free will. For me I look at my rollers as athelets and you can only break them down somuch before it works aginst them and they go down hill. Make the birds work for you but give them time to show the effects of a cirtian feeding program. For my birds what has worked to slow them down and bring them down is Barley. When I reconize its needed I use 2parts barley to 1part milo, and this combination has worked well. Good luck

Ok Fou I see some mistakes already good thing you pointed this out .first of all you flying your birds too long way too long you need to fly them 30 to 45 minutes the most now you giving them corn that alone will make them fly real high I took that away from my birds yrs ago since there is no winter here they don't need it to warm up/on occasion I throw a little around like 4 or 5 pieces to see how they respond how hungry they are play with their heads a little.. if you starve them they will go higher they are light ..but fit from flying for two to three hours .so I suggest you put them away for a week fatten them up all they want mix feed or Milo and wheat no corn.then on the 4th day cut down 10 birds 7 table spoon 5th day 5 table spoon for ten birds and 6th day no feed just water with vitamin 7th day let out they be flying lower in a couple of days fly them for only 20 to 25 minutes so they break that habit of flying long call them down now this is what I did when my birds did what yours did ..other ppl will give you other idea you take some of those some of this and put it together what suits your birds and you ..hope this helps..

The best way I have found that works for me is to cull any high flier out. You know, those that fly for hours to end and are all ways last to come down. The ones that leads the birds up into the clouds every time. It is pretty easy if you watch and get to know your birds.

I have found that straight wheat has been the best tool in keeping my birds down. If they fly too long, that usually means cut back on the flying time and cut back on the straight wheat. My birds really respond well to straight wheat and the effects it has on the birds. Fly high and long cut back. Not high enough and only a couple of minutes add more. Keep on adding until you find the right amount.

Now if I can only spot them one wingers!! If it isn't one thing, it is another. Good luck and let us know how you do?

High flying is a problem I fight with every day! This is a high flying breed yal know?
