Hi all,
Important comments about vaccination.
How many times have I heard : ‘‘I vaccinated my birds against Paratyphoid and a few months later, I had an important break down of paratyphoid in my loft. This vaccine isn’t good……!’’
Is this possible? More details following your answers if any... or if you want to know..

hi all raymond i vacinate my y/brds every year against paromx on the understanding that it would last a year.only to find that 1 of the vaccinations only lasts 6 months i only do my old birds every few years.about 6 or 7 years ago i had a kit of late breds that i had not injected as i was out of medication.i had let a friend of mine borrow a few stock birds.which carried a virus back with them + affected the birds i had not injected.not one of the birds i had injected caught the virus or any of my old birds that had been done a year or 2 before.so proving that you do not have to inject your old birds every year if you dont want to.

Thank you Mike and j. wanless,??
As follow up to my question, here is more...
Please let me explain why this happen. First of all, Dr. Zsolt Talaber write: ‘The protection provided by vaccines will NEVER be 100%!
Right now, I will only explain what might happen about the Paratyphoid vaccine. Again, Dr. Talaber tells us that: ‘Before vaccinating for Paratyphoid, it is important to treat the pigeons for ten days against Paratyphoid, e.g. (When the birds are not producing eggs or feeding young, I like to use Baytril. If you must treat while they are in reproduction, my drug of choice is Amoxicillin. Treat for 10 days.,) in order to get rid of every lurking salmonella that could be in the bodies of the birds. After you have continued this treatment for 10 days, you can vaccinate your pigeons.’Amoxicillin can also be efficient.
Of course, a veterinarian can tell if your birds are carriers but if it cannot be done, the treatment is a necessity!!!
More to come

Amoxicillin.is the first choice when shooting from the hip for alot of folks I read its gentle on the bird and least expensive and a good anti-biotic drug.especially when treating E.coli infection and its very important to treat during outbreak not use as a preventive because it will not work as a preventive and the birds will build resistance to it if use before.use 3 grams per gallon for 7 days and retreatment is necessary because things deteriorate withen weeks and as it spread throughout the flock.. ---------- Ralph.
