I have been in the roller arena for 4 decades now and I have had a few individuals over that period of time ask me to see how I would mate their birds for them. My response is always as follows, “ I will show you how I would mate them just based on body type and expression but this is all I can give you not knowing your family of pigeons.”
Anyone who has another person mate their birds year after year must have fallen off of the turnip truck. This is the most ludicrous thing I have heard. How can you as a fancier learn your family if a guy mates your birds for you year after year? This is nonsense! There is one individual who is pretty famous for having another famous fancier’s rollers in his possession for a few years that gets his birds mated every year by someone else. I will respond in one of Bill Pensom's old terms "rubbish". Also, that is exactly what you will get if you do not study your birds yourself!!!!!! Do not be fouled by this non-sense! Matter of fact I do not know if this is true but I heard some guys pay some guy to do this. Do not waste your time or money! Has anyone ever heard of this non-sense?

Hi all. Over the years I have had rollers but never been so into them as I am today. When I obtaind my birds the breeder told me to let them find there oun mates. I did this and was realy happy with the results that come out of it. All my pigeons are from the same familey and are verry similair in what they do in the sky. I do have my pairs that I am trying to work on like son to mother,Dad to daughter, and half brother half sister. When I say half sister and brother they are out of the same pair but not nest mates. I paired them up last week so should have eggs real soon.CARNT WAIT. When I have had a few rounds out of the pairs now I will splitt them and try them on diffrent mates. Last year I didnt keep records but thanks to AMMEY reminding me I wiil this year. I would like to thank ALL OF YOU for been helpfull and sharing your knowledge and years of. hard work. It realy has made me look at keeping and breeding BIRMINGHAM ROLLERS in a diffrent light. I have even learnt basic things like Keeping good maintainence around my birds. I would go and let my birds out watch them for 20 mins and go in house. Come back out to find the cats had killd my p[igeons. I would go mental and go mad at the naibours ect.ect.. Now I no that it was MY FAULT and no one elses. And it is simple things like this that I have learnt off you guys. I want to wish you all good look in what you do in 09. Thank you, Yours in roll Harrison, uk, hull.

LaRon, I know who you are talking about, there have been a couple self appointed Gurus, and some buy into these guys for sure. I have a hard enough time not changing my own mind on own pairings, this year I was really bad LOL I allways like the guys that grade your stock loft, "this is a good one" well yea it's in my frigging stock loft LOL, "this one I don't like" it aint your frigging stock loft now is it, but it is the same one that you liked seven birds ago !!! LOL ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

Scott - Exactly! It is a crock of cow manure! The funny thing about this is the same guys that have these guys mate their birds talk a whole lot of crap about other people’s pigeons. It takes years to truly understand a family and many think they can buy their way to the top but it is not that easy!
