Thanks for sharing that Marcus. Good read. I used to raise some of those Whittinghams from Ohio when I was in high school there. Do you know where it was printed? Cliff

Cliff... actually I don't know when or where it was printed. Some of it was my own writing (inserts). Good question though!
I had purchased a flock of 19 rollers in the 80's from a guy in Ohio named Harry Ashcraft who raised Whittingham's (Fireballs) and Pensoms. Shipped the birds out to me at SFO (San Francisco airport) where me and my cousin picked them up. Harry had a champion Fireball named "Foxfire" that was mentioned in an old special Roller edition of the APJ during the 80's.
NOTE: I've been collecting writings, photos, names and other miscellaneous items pertaining to Birmingham Rollers since way back in the late 80's. Sort of like a ritual for me.
...as a matter of fact
I love rolling pigeons so much, that I have actually kept on to many precious writings (papers) in storage while being homeless in the early 90's. Crazy huh???
Take care....

Always a good read...notice how in those days Pensom and those folks would go to see a kit fly in someone backward in a shirt and tie.now these days we go in genes or shorts and T-shirts ..time have change but this is one time I'm glad it did hate to be under the sun with a tie on .... ---------- Ralph.

Yep Ralph.... it appeared back in the day that Pensom was often found suited and booted in his pictures.
