Make sure she is well fed and watered, and she has a place to nest. Throw a couple handfulls of straw in their cage and leave a light on all night long. If you leave a light on all night for a couple weeks and she's not at least building a nest, she may be sick. If she does not lay after a couple weeks with lights on I would probably cull her. I leave lights on 24-7 this time of year. It's amazing how light stimulates egg laying. Try it.

hi all roller heaven your lucky i have 4 hens this year that have stopped laying + 2 of them are 05 birds.the other 2 are old hens.they go through the motions but no eggs .im afraid theyre finished so ive decided to fly them again.2 of them have been locked away for 5 years.like ralph said a hen only has so many eggs + when she/s used them all theres nothing we can give them to make them lay.so the only thing to do is fly them or use them as feeders .

roller heaven,,,530 flyer, If the hens are not to old as you have not told us their ages they should lay. Some hens get a bacteria in the ovum. Try the following as I have not had any trouble getting eggs with this method. 1. give your hens a 7-10 day round of amoxicillian to kill the bacteria if its in the Ovum. 2. Use about 7 drops of "Tamed Iodine" once a week in a gallon of water. 3. Give them an ounce of calcium gluconate 2 times a week in a gallon of water. This is the kind that is injected in cattle for milk fever. 4. keep plenty crushed oyster shells and red grit on hand at all times. 5. When not breeding your hens keep them seperate from the cocks till breeding season. I have used this regimine and I never fail to get eggs that have a high rate of hatch and healthy youngsters. Steve

I once had an hen that did not lay eggs and Chan Grover told me to put her with all cocks and let her pick out her own mate. She did just that and was paired up in a few days and I put them in their own pen and she laid eggs the rest of the year. Its worth a try to put her in the cock seperation pen if you have one of those. BIll C

I had a hen like that; she just didn't like the bastard I stuck her with (I got where I didn't like him either). I threw a second cock in there and she took to him right away (I liked him, too) ---------- Just My Take On Things

Steve The aforementioned advice is right on the money. If its a young hen and she isn't laying she has possibly contracted a infection of the oviduct. Follow the above directions that Steve has laid out and she should pull through however if she is off cycle the nest thing you can do is to let her set a clutch from another pair and raise. Sometimes that will get her jump started and get her in cycle.
