So I had a hen that only layed one egg...she is not eggbound...and is doing fine, sitting on the one that she did lay. How often does this happen...and why? I thought for sure she would drop the second egg, right on time like the rest of them...but it didn't happen?

Hey this happens to me from time to time not often but it does happen is the hen in question young that could be it but none the less she should lay two eggs next round

Same thing happen to me on her first round, Hell 2nd round she had two now she's on her third round with 2 and her 2nd round squeakers are only 4 weeks old. Last round for this pair.

i had a hen lay an egg in the kit box,so i pulled her to be a foster,she did have a cock so they jumped on a nest box but she never laid the second egg,so they went back on lock up
