I have a two hens that are skinny. They never put on any fat it seems. They always eat a full crop. But they never gain any weight. Is there anything for me to do? Should i be curing them for something? Are they sick? They seem to act fine just like the other birds just skinny. How do i put some meat on these birds? They get food, clean water and plenty of grits.

Help anyone...

tou2son, Why do you want them to gain weight? Unless your going to eat them. If they fly the time and perform well they are okay. If there in your breeding coop, look at there droppings, If they look good don't worry. Some pigeons just don't put on weight. If they start going lite, and you'll see the difference worm them or send them to that big pigeon heaven in the sky.

if theyr just for breeding and doing fine there's no point u should deworm all ur birds every 6 months and i will give them penicilin which is goood for weight gain like 0221, said don't worry about it unless u gonna eat it or if the weight is affecting the bird

Well you guys,
The birds are breeders for one. If it was just the kit i wouldn't be too worry. They poop fine. The droppings are normal. But i do know that i haven't wormed them yet. I wanted to worm them but right now they are feeding their youngs, and i don't think that would be so smart..is it? i have both the pills and the powder for water. Which would you guys recommend for me to use?

p.s.
i'm pretty new to this so please be patient!! THANKS!!

tou2son,
Don't worm those birds, If they're in the breeding coop doing a good job. Be happy. If they earned they'er way to the breeding coop and don't get fat i'd be happy. I'm sure they will make nice breeders for you. If its not broke, don't fix it.

Hey Tou does that sticky poop look like a sore??? If it does it could be rectal canker!!!!!! Like JDA said 5in1 would be a VERY good thing to give them.

Tou in the future if you want always worm your birds one month before breeding them keep them separated. then after the month put them together to breed they should be clean out by then..I use Wormout Gel VetaFarm 100ml that Tony sells here and follow by pro vital pigeon breeders plus..you can worm them every 6 month..twice a year..also give some yogurt to bring back the friendly bacteria.

Hey Touson,
After you worm them, or use any medication, follow up with some Pro Bios. It does the same thing as yogurt. It mixs with water also. You can order it when you get the Worm Out Gel, from Tony.
