Mario, I would try feeding her a little oil on her food, olive, safflower,or even cod liver, but I had to take that as a kid, tastes awful! And make sure she has grit. You can also rub a little oil on her vent to grease the wheels so to speak. Thom

Scott, I put all My stock birds on LAYEN pellets. Best thing I ever did. No grit or oyster shell. Just a little apple cider vinegar now and then. Sometime's I wonder if I own the birds or they own Me. LOL

0221, Common pigeons are free to find what they need, not locked up in a small box, dependent on their manager. Thom

I used to feed pellets, I used Nutrina 16 0/0 ,no mess no fuss , then they quit carring that brand and I got away from it last year, time to get back at it, although that isn't this hens problem , she just has to have "extra" calcium or her eggs are Chaulky, no other problems with other hens. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

I had some years ago and found it to be high in sodium like most pellets which meant high water intake and messy. The nutrina is like grain fed droppings and they don't use a heavy binder to hold them together, how is the purina now ? ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

Mario, give her some time she should be just fine.
JDA, I used the green and gold. I thought you were supposed to mix the two? Gave up and just went back to regular 18% pigeon pellets.

Scott-Years ago they looked like rabbit pellets and I feed them in the 70s, but they came out with this Purina gold and Purina green that I started feeding in the 80s and early 90s and the gold is a small round feed that pumps them up in size quite well. But if this nutrina gives them droppings like normal, It has been since the early 90s like I said. I am back in birds again now that I am retired. Have been thanking about going back to pellets but for now I have been feeding royal feed. JDA

gotspin7- I have never heard that about mixing them but the gold worked well for me. I believe it was the higher protein.JDA

JDA, actually the green has the higher protein. The gold has more carbs. Thanks for sharing. ---------- Sal Ortiz
