---------- I have about 11 squeakers that are from mid January and early Feb.I had 8 from January Which I let them all out of the kit box 4 weeks ago with 5 of my kit birds 2 of them got up with 5 of my 08 kit birds from last year and were flying really good. One on his first flight was tail riding really deep the other was flying well and tail riding as well. The others just stayed on the kit box. After everyone trapped in I tried again the next day but only let the two young that flew with the 5 kit birds out. Again they got up with the kit as high as 200 to 300 feet and were kitting well unfortunately a copper came and interupted the kit seperated one of the squeakers and took him. The other squeaker seperated from the 5 kit birds I had up after the 5 kit birds trapped the 2nd squeaker never came back i believe Bop got him as well. That was 4 weeks ago since then I have my second round of young total of 11 squeakers age from 13 weeks to 9 weeks that have yet to fly. now that spring is here I have been flying the same 5 kit birds for the last week and have not seen any BOP should i just open the main door on my kit box and let the 11 squeakers that haven't flown yet just come out on there on do this everyday pretty much from here on and just let them take off when they are ready and take the hits that come with the hobby. I don't want to hold them in the kit too long. Or have I already done so with the first round January hatches. Please advise as to these are my first young just got back in the hobby August of last year. Thanks ~~~~~~Butch

I did put them all in the wire cage attached to the kit box so they learn their surrounding have done this several times leaving them in there all the day then open the trap before the sun sets whisle for them to trap and eat. They were all in there today. Just need to fly them but a bit paranoid. ---------- ~~~~~~Butch

Butch try that iH559 said if they don't start taking off.time for plan B... Don't wait any longer get them up its about that time already, at 7 to 8 weeks mine are up.put a few on top and when the 5 that you have flying are just getting close to coming down scare them up so that they go up with them but let them come down don't bother them anymore do this for a couple of days and make sure they are hungry they respond better that way soon as you got them doing what you want keep feeding them up they need to grow and developed right .I give my young ones all they want as long as they trapping with the other birds in other words I feed them with the team but I grab the real young one and feed them apart.I have a 50 gallon I keep feed in sometime I just throw them in there and give them 1 to 2 minutes to get the extra grub..now the feed bucket is in my shed a couple of feet from the kit box as soon as they come out they trap on their own .that's discipline you get that with proper early training .be persistent everyday and train at the same time..good luck.. ---------- ---------- Ralph.

When my young are fully featherd under the wing I put them on the grass for atleast 1 hour a day untill they start to fly above the ground. Once they are coming off the ground I put them in a wire cage ontop of the loft for about 1 week. Once I release them they start flying from the loft to my roof and back and forth. At this time I always have atleast 3 older birds living with them and going out with them. So when they do take to the skys they have someone to follow about. I always shake my tin when feeding the young so they no that when the tin goes o I whistle its food time. Always remember what you do now whilst they are young will stick with them forever. Get it right now and you are on your way. Last year I got abit excited with myself and scared some young up to fly. Big mistake as I lost about 5 of the birds. Keep everything simple and you shouldnt go wrong. Also remember your the boss and you controle your birds. And the only way you can controle them is by the FOOD. One guy askd DO YOU GET GOOD RESULTS OUT OF YOUR BIRDS IF YO FEED THEM BEFORE YOU LET THEM OUT? If you are new to pigeons remember NEVER feed your birds and then let them out. When you do this you have no controle of them and they will sit about lauthing at you all day. This site is better than any book you can by if you have any questions go to the searchsite and type your question in the box. Good look and get them flying. yours in roll harrison uk hull.

Another tool is water. The first thing a pigeon wants after it eats is a drink. I use feed to get them in the loft and water to get them in the box. They are starting to get the hang of it.
When I open the kitbox door after they eat, most of them are going right in. They know the only time they get a drink is IN the kitbox. ---------- V99 blue sky single beat in cadance performing now earth beckons the winged drawn breath is let quickly forth orchestral movement follows

Took you guys advice yesterday. Put up a 5 bird kit I flew last year once they got up and start doing there thing I open the door of my squeaker kit box wit 6 young in it 13 weeks to 10 weeks. I just left the door open they were excited and curious afer flying around in the kit box they came out. For the first 10 minutes they would fly out the box on to the roof of my house fly around the yard and right back in the kit box. After a while of back and forth 4 of the 6 took off and flew really good down the street landing on other roofs I guess learning the area. They all came right back when they saw my older kit landing. They all flew back to the roof of the kit box and trapped in less then 5 minutes. They looked like juvenile having a real good time. I'm going to continue the same process today. Thanks guys !! ---------- ~~~~~~Butch
