I have a first time breeder that drinks tons of water. She eats very little grit and oyster shell. After she drinks so much she vomits some out. She eats very little. I took the water away from her, but when i put it back in her cage she heads straight for it. What can be the cause of this?

I would guess with what you have stated that she is getting to much salt or minerals. What is the salt content of your feed? Try to remove your grit for a couple days...What does her poop look like?

I have already taken the grit away for almost two weeks now. Her poop is very watery.

I think she probably has a virus of some sort. Have you tried apple cider vinegar? This is something that was new to me until I heard it here. I use about an 1/8 cup to a gallon of water for all my birds now. They do seem to be healthier..You could ask Tony as well for help.

Hey Super x; It sounds to me like she has a sour crop. When she is full of water squeeze her crop and force all the water from her and then give her a little baking soda to neutralize the crop. Its worth a try. ---------- STARFIRE
