All roller breeders also need to be aware of the HR 699 bill that is going to be heard on April 22. This bill will ban all breeding and sales of many pet birds and small pet mammals. They would be considered illegal under this act. Please contact the members of the house of representatives and voice your opinion. You can look up HR 699 bill. The AU is asking all members and also pigeon fanciers to assist so that our hobby can continue.

Our rights are slowly being taken away and most do not even have a clue!!

The Bigger the Dream the Bigger the Leap

This is exactly why I put so much effort into showing HR875 here and the GMO agenda. They want to outlaw gardening, organic farming, and all keeping of small livestock...The real agenda is to make us dependant on the government for our food. This way if we go against what they want they can control us with food. I know this all sounds crazy, but it is fact. The Department of Homeland Security has just listed returning vets as a threat to national security..

I just received this email from the ACLJ (American Center for Legal Justice). If you would like to read the whole of it email me at mike@iowatestinglabs.com and I will forward..

Dear Michael,

I was skeptical. Now I'm outraged. You should be, too.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has labeled you, a member of the pro-life community, THE MOST DANGEROUS DOMESTIC TERRORIST.

The DHS warning entitled: ''Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment'' is so troubling that at first, I actually didn't believe that Homeland Security could issue such a document.

But it's true. We've verified it. And make no mistake, this unconstitutional report raises serious questions about the leadership and direction of the agency charged with protecting Americans in the ongoing battle against terrorism

"HR 669 bans import, export, transport, breeding, sale or barter of ALL
nonnative species unless they are placed on an Approved List established by the USFWS (US
Fish & Wildlife Service)."

Guess what? We breed Birmingham rollers and Rollers, Racing Homers etc are not native to the U.S. Many of these laws are tricky and what is in them is worse than the surface. The AU is totally against it also.

LaRon,
I looked up this bill and scanned over it. I really don't think it is anything to worry about. It is just designed to keep invasive species from becoming major problems.

It is called the NONNATIVE WILDLIFE INVASION PREVENTION ACT.

It was sponsored by Madeleine Bordallo of Guam. Over there in Guam the Brown Tree Snake got loose and has practically wiped out all their native species of birds. Also, worldwide, invasive species are a very serious.... major problem...

The bill "does not include any cat (Felis catus), cattle or oxen (Bos taurus), chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus), dog (Canis lupus familiaris), donkey or ass (Equus asinus), domesticated members of the family Anatidae (geese), duck (domesticated Anas spp.), goat (Capra aegagrus hircus), goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), horse (Equus caballus), llama (Lama glama), mule or hinny (Equus caballus x E. asinus), pig or hog (Sus scrofa domestica), domesticated varieties of rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), or sheep (Ovis aries), or any other species or variety of species that is determined by the Secretary to be common and clearly domesticated.

"ANY OTHER SPECIES OR VARIETY THAT IS DETERMINED TO BE COMMON AND CLEARLY DOMESTICATED".... That's us right..?

If you want to read the bill here is the address..
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-669

There isn't anything to worry about I don't think unless you want to breed Cobras or mambas... but maybe those monitor lizards and Burmese pythons that have gotten established in Florida might get in their bad list.

But it is better to be cautious when this type of thing comes up... Good looking out.

Paul - Thanks for your reply. The American Racing Homing union (which I am a lifetime member) has lobbyist in Washington and they are concerned with this bill. The AU sent us all fliers and this bill is serious. I hope all is well.

LaRon,
I believe that the guy in the video was using scare tactics to fight passage of this bill. In the background he has a huge snake collection. they are probably ball pythons. But lots of snake breeders have Burmese and reticulated pythons and anacondas, etc. This bill seriously threatens them as well as those having Nile Monitors and other exotic species that have the potential to become problems to our ecosystems.
I taught my students about te threat of invasive species when I was teaching biology. Actually, invasive plants are an even greater threat than most animals.
But I am satisfied after reading the bill that there is no threat to pigeon breeders.
California has already banned importation of many species that othet states still permit. There are still states where you can buy a King Cobra, Black Mamba, taipan or any other kind of venomous snake.

PIGEONS ARE clearly an APPROVED species in this bill.
They: are not harmful to the United States’ economy, the environment, or other animal species’ or human health;
They: already are so widespread in the United States that it is clear to the Secretary that any import prohibitions or restrictions would have no practical utility for the United States.
I would be interested in knowing why the Amer. Racing Homer Union is so concerned.. because I don't see a reason for it in the bill...
You know I appreciate your concern... We are just discussing the bill... to get to the facts...
Your Friend, Paul

to all,

i believe that ezeedad is correct. i've also read the bill as well and its pretty much talking about such animal or animals that could either be as of a danger in our society or over populate our cities like the frogs in hawaii.

anyways im sure america cannot take out all of the pigeons here in the country. pigeons multiply fast and our parks wouldn't be the same without them.

If they would outline the species they were going to ban before they passed the bill they might have support, but in saying to be determined after the bill has passed is BS. JDA from what I understand it was mainly the fish and wildlife that pushed it because of the BOA's, pythons, and other large none native snakes that have found there way to the everglades. That is what I hear and it might not be correct. I raise exotic little birds, keets and teals and these birds if let out could not make it on there own, they are dependent own us to feed them and the hawks would have a field day with them, so why ban such animals that are not a threat and make great pets ????????

When the AU is all on top of something it is very different from our roller hobby. They have inside information from the lobbyist in Washington. The AU very rarely gets this excited so I know something is not correct with this bill. Also, everything in a bill is not on the net.

Laron I agree with you I read it and like Paul I thought its not really anything to do with our birds but how about ppl like Ty who raise exoctic birds will lose because of this bill .and your right when the AU gets excited its something to be alarm about and when these ppl stop one thing they be going after yours next..I send my email to my congress...

To all,

it is good to have posts like this. pretty much so we all can be aware of the laws or bills that can be (unknowingly)held against us. it is just as in when you vote, you have to really think about the bill or laws that you are voting for.

pay attention to the "DETAILS" of every law.
