I let the kit go, sometimes they go up together and kit well and perform well together.....Then I can release them the next day and they take off start rolling but they are flying every which way and it takes them about twenty minutes to get together as a team. I have fed them straight wheat for the past two days, I dont know if this will help or not...Any ideas would be of great help..

What age are they and how long have they been flying?
Were they locked down at all?

Mike,
Are these your '09 birds just settled? I think it is normal thing for them to learn to fly first and kit second. The first several days I don't get worried as they go through a "SWARM OF BEES " phase. Fly them in the best conditions your weather will allow. Don't put them up in windy conditions. As your experience with your birds increases , you will get better at judging their progress. They should kit a little better each time up. Just be patient, feed them correctly and keep them from pecking around on the ground. Do not allow them to settle on any object but the kitbox and harass their butts if they do. They'll come around....

hi mike
pat + cliff have asked all the right questions we need to know before we can give any advice.like mike as said never let them peck around the garden as they can pick all sorts of trouble from the garden.if they are y/brds im having problems with mine .they kit for 10 minutes then like mike said are like a swarm of bees.so i let them land on the loft for 5 min + then chase them back up.you/d be supprised how much better they kit after ive chased them back up.

It seems that the kit is too active and need to be flown a little more. Start flying the kit 2-3 times a day and see if this helps or not.

Fly the kit early as possible for no less than 30 minutes 6:20 am call them in and don't feed them just give them very little to make them go in. After 20 minutes of rest fly them again and let them fly for 20 minutes no less then call them in. 20 minutes of rest again do the same thing now I only fly them for the time they could fly and then I let them in till the 20 minutes have pass. This only the first couple days then they will fly more and more.

Remove birds that are too frequent and making the kit not lift or stay together.

Mike,
Was that kit hammered by the BOPS? Do they release together and kit up? Are they skittish? Do they break up when aerial distractions come into view, like seagull or vultures? Did they kit last year? Is just something they just stated and have been doing for the last 3 months? I would lock um back up for a week, cut the feed down a notch and fly them if groups of 5 till you see if they will kit. Something is up.

Mike, probably some bonehead screwing you, the 07 should be solid as the dummies should be long gone, look at the 08s , one bird can drag out several.
I am having a few fits here also with Qual for WC next weekend , I pulled one culprit, and have one more suspect, these will go back to B team until they mature more and can hang with the big dogs, I will slip in another from my B team.

Hey Mike, if I'm understanding correctly your saying they fly fine 1 day but not the next. I would try not flying them every day, I would start with a 2 day rotation then a 3 day,if there really working hard the day they stay together they might need some rest but first like Scott said look for a culprit.
