hey guys haven't been on here for a while but...got a question.

I been flying my 09 kit birds for almost 2 months and they are just improving by the days. Then jus the past sunday, they were flying very low and landed in less then 10 mins. When landed, they were very exuasted and outa breath.

here's what I do, I feed them 50/50 milo & wheat. enough for all of them to have a good fly. Notice that they were flying low gave them some electrolytes and a day off after they flew. Unfortunately, flew them this morning and same thing.

What could be the problem? Feed? Rest? anything that could help, tell me...

Hey rocky,

I think it might be the weather bro...this past sunday in California was Dead hot!!! through out the whole day.

Dave had a hard time flying cause of the weather.

It could be the weather like tthoj said,, but I think about taking Gabe suggesting anyway they do need a good protien mix. until about 6 month.don't let nobody tell you different ..good luck..

It's the weather i would say. My kit is doing the same thing. Mix feed or not the birds do the same but with mix they jus stay up longer. Try flying the birds early in the morning if you can. It's pretty obvious that if it's hot on ground and so up there it's gonna be hotter.

rockx559, Why don't you fly them at first light? If its light at 6:00AM, Go to work man. LOL LOL. Young birds need all the encoraging you can give them.

Carolina- still have 3 in kit they never left roof and 6 in breeder loft. GOD BLESS!! be glad you still have your kit!!

hey johnnie, yesterday i flew the kit again becuz it was cooler and fed them 15.5%...and mann they were outa shape and wrong, flew them at 7;30 am and jus disapear..my last one didnt come back until 10 something...got kinda worried but I knew that I train them in worser weather and that this shouldn't be nothing to them...later found out that a hawk was over there where they were flying... they improve today though flying high again...

anyways if you still have the breeders, then hope is not over yet...

Just feed them regular pigeon food. If you feed them too high % they will fly more and not roll as much.

Feed them to fly for 30 minutes which is a good time. Fly them at first light 6:00-6:15 am no latter. This time you get no wind and no heat. You should not have any problems flying them.

If you feed them all they want you will not be able to control them. They will trap in when they want to not when you want to. Just feed them around 2 table spoons/ bird plus or minus a couple for the whole kit. Depending how long they fly but don't over feed them.

You can feed them all they want for 1-2 days but don't release them for those days just for them to get some weight. Then you go back to the 1-2 table spoon / bird before you start to fly them again.
