To All: As some of you may have noticed, I am in the process of cleaning up the site of individuals who don't give a flip and choose to bring personal vendettas here or generally spoil the experience for other visitors.

Apparently it is going to be an ongoing battle on my part. But, I could use all your help to weed out individuals who are ruining things for many others and who don't give a flip about you or the site.

In the future, I would be grateful if you would please report to me any posts and/or individuals you feel are intentionally ignoring the posting policy with the intent to do harm to others or this site.

If everyone will play a small part, as several have, we can get back to All Roller Talk. Thank You!

While unfortunate, I have found over the last few years, to be involved in anything where competition is involved, a thick skin becomes a necessity. Not everyone is going to be best friends and run around patting each other on the bum, like a basketball team.

I actually enjoyed the forum as an open expression of individual ideas and thoughts, more so than say a bunch of post that are only geared toward "give me a call" " hit me up on my e-mail" etc...

I do however agree that personal attacks are best left, well, personal. Call the person, talk to them face to face, or keep it to yourself.

There is a fine line on opinions though. If my birds look like crap, I`ve grown to the point where I`d rather have someone with the stones to tell me whats wrong with them rather than just " hey, nice looking bird". It does me or the hobby no good to cast false observations merely out of fear of being banned from a site. If I got a color, expression, size, feathering or any other issue with my birds, speak up. Give me a good reason for your " opinion", and I`ll take it as that. Your opinion.

Again, just my 2 cents, I enjoyed and probably learned more from reading the posts here when it was a little more open. It took me a while to understand and learn from some of the members, and some who are no longer here, but I finally got it. I hate to see any of them go elsewhere, as this was the best site of its kind.

Butch, I can agree with your post. If I solicit opinions about something I want and expect to get honest opinions along with some background behind that opinion. If you ask about my experience with a certain family, I'm going to tell you my experience good or bad. What I won't do is make a blanket statement that anyone who raises the family is raising @#&^ and needs to cull all their birds and get some REAL Rollers because the guy that started the family crossed breed X into them and was a feather merchant that was a backyard flier, blah blah blah blah. Peace,

Hey All and Tony, It's simply a matter of respect. Differing opinions often bring out the best and worst when we are passionate about a subject. That however does not give us licence to abuse anyone. A different point of view should be welcome. Make your case, just do it with respect.

Thom, well said! A few guys just don't get it. They think free speech allows them to come on a private site and post whatever they want. I have been through that and it brings its own grief. To those who let anything go on their sites means they have nothing to lose. Thereby, in my book, what they have nothing of real substance to offer.

What's funny is I have been on all sides of the ball (LOL inside and outside) and I get accused of letting too much go on the site (and people leave) then I crack down and get called a dictator (and some people leave). If the numbers are smaller, then the quality is better.

Like Ricky Nelson says in a song, ...ya can't please everyone so you got to please yourself...

I look at what I am doing for the long haul-the next 20 to 30 years, not trying to build cheap traffic by letting people say or post anything they want. I will not allow people to abuse the site, me or those who value it. If that loses people, then they don't belong here. Period.

For those who don't know, Scott was once banned for almost a year. He is now a master flyer and has much to teach anyone willing to listen. Scott has been on this site from almost day 1. He has been through every change and hiccup on this site since 2004 and never once can I remember him bitching at me, oh yeah, once, and it got him banned, but look, here he is. LOL

I look forward to Scotts posts. He usually tempers his posts with a little levity. His sarcastic responses usually make me laugh. As mentioned he is a very knowlegable fellow and is good for the sport. I guess we actually have the best of both ends of the pendulum with Scott and Cliff as active members of this site.
I know for a fact they both were responsible for the foundation of the WTRC and competetion regions in both the WC and the NBRC. Thier guidance led me to aquire the knowledge to get the club started as a means to have our regions recognized.
To qoute another long time pigeon man and returnee to the site,Brian McCormick.

Well said Kenny. Scott is a friend, we talk periodically on the phone. Don't always agree but I know he has the best interest of the hobby in mind when he offers something.

I don,t believe the post is directed at Scott. He,s a master flyer that takes the time to make this Roller thing a little easier to understand. This site is without a doubt, the best there is,regarding Birmingham Rollers and pigeons in general. Thanks Tony.Glen.
