hey roller mens and womans,
i have a question,
is it offensive to ask about a birds performance? i am asking this because i have talked to many roller fanciers and i ask about a certain bird that they are selling, i ask about their performance and the owners seem to not want to answer, they always say that they havent flown the bird yet and their on lock down,i dont know if they are selling the bird because its a cull or anything.
but yea, is asking about a birds performance offensive to the owner?

I would say no, not when you want a bird for perfomance. The best way is to see his birds fly.Unflown birds could be culls.

If you are interested in buying a bird and the seller takes offense to your questions regarding the bird then don't buy it. Would you buy a used car if the seller became irritated if you asked how it runs? There are plenty of good birds out there and good people to buy them from that are up front and honest. One thing to always remember, their interpertation of what a bird does in the air may not be the same as yours. Find the good people and your chances for success are much better. Don M. Heck no it shouldn't be offensive! Unless he's full of poop and trying to BS you. I agree that you should pick the birds out of the air, but sometimes we don't get that oppertunity. If it made them uncomfortable, that would be a red flag to me! JMO ---------- Val

If you are looking to buy performing pigeons then by all means ask about their performance. If the seller is selling performance pigeons they should be more than willing to show you the birds in the air or at least describe how the bird performs. If you are looking at young birds or squeakers then I would expect them to at least be willing to talk about the performance of the family of birds you are interested in. If they do not want to talk about their performance then I would find someone who was willing to talk about their birds performance or better yet show them to you. John
