Hello site visitors, does any of this rankor accomplish anything? NO. I for one am already tired of it...

If those trying to "protect" the purity and sanctity of the
"performance roller" alienates even just 1 person with those cutting and devisive words from wanting to fly rollers or from even wanting to breed rollers at all, HOW did you help?

For every "negative" comment made by anyone, these people go away. In business, customers usually do not tell you they are not happy with your product or service. THEY JUST GO AWAY! And you never even know it! HOW did you help?

How do you know the next "pensom" isn't being turned away from the sport due to the vitriolic diatribes spewed from overworked keyboards? HOW did you help?

The true Birmingham Roller stands(rolls) on its own merits. Support the ideal with facts and information and good persuasion of the ideal. How many people do you know who had "rollers" switch to "REAL ROLLERS" when they see the difference? Let the Birmingham Roller speak for itself.

The Show Roller is a new breed of pigeon. I have not heard anyone refer to it as the "Birmingham Show Roller". I personally do not raise them nor do I want to. But the pigeon world is big enough to handle it, right?

Show Roller fanciers, point out the differences between the roller breeds. If you don't you will never reach the place you want to go with them and will always have purists on your shoulder.

Both sides of this issue need to recognize what they have in common, pigeons, and celebrate and honor and respect the differences (many).

Last time I looked, no one owned the word "rollers". It is a word only. "Birmingham Rollers" are an ideal. Far superior to just the word: roller.

The nastiness and vehemence on this site will stop. The bar of civility has been raised! The revolution is over. It's a new day!

Now go fly your Birmingham Rollers, go show your
Show Rollers and peace be upon the Internet and all those who search out the mysterious and facinating roller pigeon.

If you agree, please say so by responding. Those who don't, you have already lost. But join us now, there is still time!

Add your name for all "roller" posterity that you stood today for the ideals of brotherhood, fellowship and debating ideals to improve the roller in all its forms.

FLY ON!

Tony, sorry if I angered you or anyone else when I asked about culling birds. All I want is to better the breed and enjoy my birds and I hope everyone wants the same thing.

Thanks Tony...I don't believe there is any breed or any spin-off of any breed better than another. We all think the one(s) we have is the best or we wouldn't waste our time. I do tend to take sides when someone is being unfairly attacked. That I don't apologize for. I do think someone needed to say something or it might have just continued. I hope this thread will settle things down, if I offended anyone, just know it wasn't intentional.

I agree with you 100%, the negitive stuff has to end. There
is enough of this in our every day life without dragging
it into the hobby that we all love so dearly.
Bluesman,
I have used this Quote many time in the UNITED ROLLER CLUB
bulletins " UNITED WE STAND, AND DIVIDED WE FALL" this is
a very heavy Quote if one stops and really thinks about it . RON

war is won i have not read negative post but have read yours. you have become a dictator, remove free speech. the roller has lost the war a long time ago,bad rules took care of that, one of yours said to me a long time ,i may not like what you say, but will defend to the death your right t
o say it. also a negative may be a positve in the writers
opinion but not in yours.

Hey Jim, welcome to the site. Too bad your first post on this site is to attack me. LOL

Take a close look at the start date of this thread, 2 years ago. You need to understand it in context.

Also, this is NOT a FREE SPEECH zone. This is my website and I am the one responsible for it. No one is stopping your free speech, Jim, you or anyone else can say whatever nonsense you want to, you just can't say it here.

I (and Moderators) have a responsibility to moderate a wide assortment of personalities, people with agendas, resentments, vendettas, you name it.

Sometimes people just want to fight and argue. At some point, I say enough is enough. 99% of the posters on this site understand what is going on and know the history of most of the controversies and why I have taken the position I have in trying to control the posts.

There are roller lists with rules that allow you to say or post ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING YOU WANT TO, some stuff is funny and a lot is shocking, I don’t presume to tell them what they can or can’t do, they are grownups and that’s their business. Those are their rules.

I am not sure of your motivation for getting into this post. Where are you headed with it? If you want to respond to this post, Jim, call me and we can hash it out without getting into a pi$$ing match for all to see.

Otherwise, welcome to the site and I hope you can become a member that has something good to contribute.

I am just now reading the last of the 52 pages in this forum. You know my wife thinks I'm nuts. For some reason I have been reading them in reverse order; it's worse than coming into the middle of a movie. Two things have amazed me. One has been the consistancy and tenacity with which the same topics have been hashed over and over. The other is a much more positive observation; that is the great patience and thoroughness shown by the experienced and knowledgeable breeders on this site in answering questions from novices. Many of you have been willing to answer the same question over ane over as new members have come on line. I think this shows the true love you have for this hobby. Thanks to all of you and to Tony for providing this great site.

Jim I am not quite sure where you are coming from. Or how you feel you are justified in your comments. It seems to me that you are one of the people that this post is directed at. I have been posting here for a few years now and I must say that Tony has been quite liberal when it comes to the posts and the subjects posted here. He has in the past shut this site completely down. Its not very often that Tony feels the need to remove individuals comments or even post comments like this. I think what he is saying is that he encourages educational discussions and even debates on the facts not just B.S. rhetoric or at the expense of peoples feelings. When they get to the point where people are attacking others simply to prove a point this is unacceptable. I have a suggestion for you if you don't like the rules then don't post here. People need to remember that this site is a privilege not a right. Tony uses this site as part of his income and when even one person is turned off unfairly that is a potential loss of income for Tony. I personally would like to thank you Tony for being open minded and allowing the disscussions to become as in depth as they have but I also feel that their has to be a line and when people start attacking another person based on nothing or stupid things then someone needs to step in. I think Tony you are doing a good job of walking a real fine line on allowing constructive critism and sensorship. I have been in this hobby for over 30 years and this is a great site with A HUGE knowledge base from all of the experienced fanciers here willing to help anyone. So in closing Tony keep up the good work my hat is off to you. Jim educate yourself about Tony and this site before you attack the man.
