starve them a bit, they might be too heavy,

thats what i do.

Fontana, never starve young birds! I would put them in a crate and release them a few feet from the loft and then start releasing them from the front yard so you can gradually build them up. Good luck.

Just be patient!! Don't starve your youngs! They need all they can to build them up strong. Young birds are still afraid to fly. They have to build themselves to get use to the wind, the area and the landing area. Gotta have them learn how to take off by themselves. I never flagged my birds i just make a loud "shush" sound and their off the roof flyin.

Spanky is right I give my birds free loft for a week too as part of the training using the flag is a tool if use right .when the birds are coming down to land I don't flag them because it will cause them to land elsewhere..when flag up I don't continue I let them land when they want to and trap in and get rewarded..consistence is the key never starve them I feed all my young all they want and they still go up just be patient with them.now I also like to use my flag when they up high enough and thinking of coming down but I want 5 more minutes I pick up the flag and wave it so of changing their thoughts of coming down but I do that only when they are up cause I know there is no where to land up in the sky..if they low enough I don't bother them ...so the flag is a tool just like anything else that is use in training your birds..

I agree with Spanky and Ralphs advice. If they have been flying around for a week already, flag em up. Dont flag them to stay up yet though, like he pointed out, they'll land somewhere they shouldnt. Let them build strngth and endure gradually.
If you think they are cheating you, landing early and trapping fast to get food, feed them just enough to get them trapped in and then wait to feed full ration for an hour or longer. You want them to be conditioned to trap in quickly, but dont let them play you.
Be careful withholding feed too much on squeakers. Feed them as much as they can and still have them trap in timely fashion. Until they are flying and kitting as a team, be easy on them.
