I'd give them at least a month, with plenty of time in a settling cage on top of your kit box. I have had fly aways after trying just a couple weeks...best of luck.

Try this, when you first let them out, do it on a quiet day when you have extra time. After the kit lands after flying, don't let them trap right away. Throw a few seeds on the kit box roof and let them feed a little bit, carefully open the door to the wire settling pen and let the new ones come out on their own, make sure they new ones are twice as hungry as normal on this day.
Toss a few more seeds and get them all feeding as a group. Not too much...now open the trap door and toss a few seeds inside there...you want the new ones to trap in with them and finish their meal.
Do this for a couple days, before you encourage them to actually fly. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Fontanabound, I would put them on the roof on a wire cage for at least a couple of weeks before releasing them, also let me ask you this how old are the birds?... Along with that I would also start trap training them as they come in. Good luck ---------- Sal Ortiz

If they have been flown and will kit, just a few days. I got 6 young birds (less than 6 months) I placed them in the kit box day one. day 2 flew other birds but left them in cage on top of box. Day three flew all of the birds. They stayed with the kit, and trapped fine. If older take a couple of weeks, and let them look over the area, and learn where food and a safe perch is. If they were flown where you got them and kitting they will probally stay with the kit, and can take less time. Good luck ---------- RT Williams

Be careful with 2 yr old birds they are very mature and with one thing in there mind back home....I usually hold them in for a month ...but thats me and I never lost a bird because patience is a virtue..with that and following the advice from the guys above you be alright..goodluck.. Ralph.
