I have a young squeaker that has a air sac problem, it's crop and chest area puffs up with air like a balloon. He is big enough it no longer what's to stay in the nest, The parents are still feeding him on the floor, but he can't eat on his own because of being all puffed up, when the air is drained out with a pin, it can eat and drink a little bit, but the air sack puffs back up on him quit quickly. The question is will he get better on his own, or is it not worth the effort to save him. I have not had this happen before, has anyone else experienced this. What can be done?

Are you sure it is air? Could be sour crop. IF it is sour crop you can turn the squeeker upside down and GENTLY squezze the crop to empty it. Than I mix a little baking soda with water and give it to him with and eye dropper, Make sure you get in his crop and not the airway! ---------- Ron Borderline lofts

No I'm not sure what it is, but it's just the skin that balloons up, with a poke from a pin the air will come out and the bubble go's down to normal size but than will come back.

I would do as Ron has said...Poke him with the pin again and get rid of the air first..He is having a problem with the gases being created and not being able to deal with them for some reason. I would mix the baking soda and water at one tsp. to a cup of water..This is not going to guarantee his survival, but it could fix the problem he is having..

You could try feeding him some cultured yogurt a day or two afterwards. This will build up good bacteria in his crop and stomache..
