How is your club fly winner determined? Does your club use the cumulative of overall points scored throughout the season, or does your club use a point scoring system for places won? For example: 1st place x 3pts - 2nd place x 2pts and 3rd place x 1pt. I just feel that using the cumulative system does not generate a fair result, some fliers score high on some days and others not. Using the above point system, in my opinion, gives the flier who is able to maintain a steady result more frequently the chance to win. I know that bad weather and falcon attacks will always hamper even the greatest fliers performance, but it just seems like a fairer system to me. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. ---------- Ronnie Promoting the Birmingham Roller The greatest aerial acrobat!

That is an interesting way of scoring. But we could wind up with only the first three as the top three and what about the other 7 guys?
We use the collective all year fly scores and add them up. I think the 1st 2nd and 3rd would come out the same way either way. Bill

I agree with Bill we have tried such a system in the past with ill results. As he said what happens is a certain guy wins more then anyone else or a couple of guys are in the top spots more often but the new guys who are not so well versed in their management will not win as much and this system will put them way out of contention with 1/2 the season left with NO chance to get back in it.
Many of the newer guys have less mature kits and some might be in prime condition the last few months of the season and can possibly get back in there. If you are 4th or 5th out of 7 guys it would be next to impossible to get back into the race with this type of system even though the scores look so close?
We did panel judging in your club, all judged all the kits to include your own and it was very good system. You did a simple average and it seemed to work very well and made everyone watch the kits for the entire event.

Thanks for your thoughts guys... I am trial running a Leaderboard table in up-coming Bulletins, showing the cumulative score as well as a point scoring system as I mentioned above. I may have to find a way to incorporate the cumulative score as a way of determining the overall winner. ---------- Ronnie Promoting The Birmingham Roller The Greatest Aerial Acrobat!
