I would splitt them up for a couple of weeks and then try them again.
She should still lay eggs as she is only 9 years old.
And of course its nothing to do with him as you could put him on any hen and she will lay eggs.
Them been fertile or not is a diffrent storey.
My friend has an hen 5 years old and she stopt laying last year.
Then he has an hen 10 years old and she still pumps them out so its a funny game aint it?
You could try them on diffrent mates just to see what the outcome is then atleast you will no witch one his the problem.
Also it may put that bit of excitment back into the birds.
I think the older they get there sex drive drops.
Try feeding them a hand full of HEMP seed dailey as it gives them that little edge.
Good look harrison.

Both of these birds are old for rollers. Hens only have so many eggs in them and once they are gone, thats it. Just like women when they run out of eggs they go through menapaus and stop their monthly cycles. Same thing with your hens. She minght be out of eggs. Its amazing but women have all the eggs they will ever have once they are born, baby girl or baby hen squeaker. To God be the glory!

The cock is also very old. Many males can continue to fertalize eggs well into old age but with pigoens, cock can go steril from too much medication. The number one reason for cocks to go steril anti-biotics and medication.

But the hen would still lay eggs if she could but they would not hatch if it was the cock. So my guess is that it is the hen that has the problem most likely. Bill C

If you have other pairs I would put the hen with a young cock and the old cock with a young hen. I read that in Pensoms book once. He said they do not produce as good of rollers after the 7th year. He said the 3rd to the 7th are best. But put a younger mate to the old one and the offspring will favor the more mature mate.

This is a good reason to seperate your birds and keep your hens on perches and not have nest boxes in the cage. Many guys just throw the eggs away and use wooden eggs but your hens will run out of eggs sooner rather than later in life. Just thought I would mention it. Bill C
