Flew my kit tonight, they were doing well and kitting well...then all of a sudden here come the crows! One crow stayed on the outside of the kit and one systematically tried dive bombing a couple of my birds in the kit.

The one crow was relentless, kept dive bombing one of my birds, and finally the kit split up and started going high. Once the kit was split up all of a sudden here comes a sharp shinned hawk....and started trying to pick off one of my birds that was flying below the rest of them...he tried for about 2 minutes to catch the bird he was after, and finally gave up and flew away.

The crow kept messin with one bird in particular, and then I started clapping my hands and the two crows bailed and left them alone.

I started whistling and they kitted up tight again and started dropping, landed and trapped in real quick.

Could have been a bad day, but we got em all back in and they are fine.

Anyone else ever had crows mess with your birds?

I was happy as a pig in .....well you know....that my one bird outflew a sharp shinned and made it back to the kit box.....yeah today was a good day.

I have a couple of pair of crows that nest near by, when they were building their nest one or the other would fly thru my birds, a couple of times just trailed behind the kit. After a few times the Rollers didn't pay attention any more, the crows have kept the BOP run out of the area.

My young birds were up today just a little more than rooftop when a few crows passed through. One of them dived and took a cheap shot at one of the youngsters.
I've had them go after my birds a few times, but the most they did was to scare a couple young birds away.

Crows will do that some times.I have a lot where I live they are good for keeping BOP'S from going after my birds.

The crows in my area are very territorial. They usually dont bother my kits. They do get after the bops, and there is a little yellow breasted bird that gets after the crows. The little birds sometimes follow the kits but cant keep up but they sure like to divebomb the crows.

I experienced that a lot here. Crows chases my homers. Basically they have a nest near my loft so they are protecting it. These crows also protect me from hawks. They saved me already. I like to fly my birds then when they are around. LOL!

The crows are probably the best legal defense we have against the BOPs, that is until "Fish and Game" finds out I am encourageing the crows to stay around, I leave the dumpster open and they pick out of the trash.

It was just kind of wild to see, as I haven't had crows chase my birds before. Now the sharp shinned hawk...that was a different story. I was pretty sure he was going to catch the one he was after, but my birds are pretty strong on the wing by now and it did a good job of getting away. He dang sure tried for a couple of minutes though.
