Just got back from camping at the Cumberland River in Kentucky and came face to face with this:
Wasn't scared of him at all, for some reason, and neither was my horse, because we chased him off. But while there, I rode with my buddies from Connecticut and while talking about pigeons, he told me that his father has flown rollers for years, and years ago, he had someone show up at his house wanting to buy his birds. He said no, he didn't want to sell them, so that night, they disappeared. He sent the cops to this guy's house and sure enough, there were his birds! But at that time, the cops couldn't do anything because the roller guy didn't have proof that they were his.
Anyway . . . I was wondering if any of you ever heard of a Roller Man from Connecticut by the last name of "Gravel" -- I don't know what the father's name is, but the son's name is Paul Gravel. He said his father had worked for 3 years to get the group of birds together that got stolen.

Laura, There's a Roger Gravel in the Faircount Pigeon club in CT. He lives in Terryville. I don't know what he has for birds though.

Thanks, SS & Rookie -- such a small world. I'll be taling to the younger Gravel's wife in the morning and I'll find out what her father-in-law's name is. I do know that he has more breeds than just rollers so I am wondering if Paul from Litchfield is my guy.
LOL Donnie -- for some reason, I wasn't scared of that bear. My first emotion was awe, not terror. That's probably born if ignorance, though -- you know what they say about bliss! :) ---------- -- Laura Professional Thrill Seeker
