I decided to give my mentor a call today since I haven't talked to him in awhile. To make a long story short, I was reminded of the importance of having a good mentor and using them to learn. I have been on a judge certification kick lately. Talking to my mentor who has been a RD in the past, I got a different look at why certain things are done certain ways, why certain things don't tend to work and how things tend to pan out in the end.
Moral of the story, find a good mentor and talk to them often! Tracey

I have several mentors, These mentors have done very well with there birds and in competetion. Ken Billings, Scott Campell, Joe Emberton, Don Oulette,Tim Decker,Rick Mee, Heine B etc. Each one of these guys have taught me something , which just makes since as am putting the puzzle together. Some info here and there from each one and adjust along the way . Such as help as, feeding, flying, tight kitting, inducing the roll, slowing down the mature rolling birds, flying the young birds hard, preping, culls, keep the birds feed and water clean. balancing your matings, frequncy enough to compete, style, speed, and ususally when i have a question am quick to ask it!

Mentors are where it is at!!!

We are lucky if we find a good mentor...I was fortunate enough to meet up with some good guys at the begining back in 04 when I did my first comp fly...for the Fall Fly....I had Scott Campbell, Chuck Roe, Joe Urbon, Tony C., Bill C, Dwight Wallace, Ken Firl and Mort Emami...I picked the brain of each of these fliers and then tried what was said and took a little bit of everybody's advice...Thanks Guys...
