I would keep flying her.I had some real good birds do that,I just kept flying them and they worked through it.We had a longer than usual winter out here in Hawaii and saw some birds doing that when the days started getting hot.You have nothing to lose by flying them,if they are good they will straighten out,if they are not ....well you know....Aloha,Todd

One comment on your bird redchecker. Keep it or not, its up to you. It may become a good kitbird.

I suggest however you make note of it and not breed it. That trait, rolling while landing, seems to be a heritable trait. It is a trait I have dealt with for several years and am just now getting over it. Not saying I never have one bump, but I used to get half a dozen or more every year, last year I had one, none so far this yr. All of them could be traced to 2 hens and 1 cock.

I can tolerate a bump going out more so than coming back. They should have worked that nonsense out of themselves before they returned.

Redchecker16 says as of 5-23-2009 She has straighten up no more bumping in the last 6 days (well I hope) she's been solid I feed her up an rest then feed down an she is showing some Control when coming in,As I watch her in the kit I notice the kit when coming in I had a cock that would be in the front an would roll/tailset an she would let it GO! I took him out for a few days an she was A ok, put him back up 2 days ago an he did the same thing but she didnt go hope it stays the same// Pigeons are very tricky I see you have 2 keep a watchful eye on them.. thanks for all of ur comments..

Stop flying her for a couple of days and feed her up. If the bird is really working in the air, when she traps, she may not be getting enough food because when she come in she is to tired to eat. I read a real good post in the NCRC bulletin that was written by Dave Henderson. He spoke on this same issue.

Today I flew my birds and noticed a little blue check that was rippin. This bird has also came all the way down b 4. When they trapped I let all of them eat. When they were done I felt this hen and she felt like she did not eat anything.I pulled her out and put her in another cage and she ate her butt off.

So I agree with Daves article where he states that you have to really keep an close eye on the birds feel them, watch them, no when to slow down on the flying, when to rest them, all of them getting there fair share of food. When some birds are hungry we all know that they do funny things LOFT MANAGEMENT IS SERIOUS. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS. Just my thoughts.

The bird is young...give it a chance....when learning to roll they are going to crash every now and then. Young birds you have to cut some slack. Now if this was a 10 month old...one year old bird and started doing this...then that is different....

I will say this....most of my best stock birds were just like this at a real young age.....they bumped....maybe twice or three times in a week...then they never did it again.....after I rested them for a couple days and fed them up.....then they were my top kit birds and then pulled for stock...the offspring....DID NOT bump like the parents did for the short amount of time.....

Read my article on "The evolution of the brimingham roller fancier"...in that article I speak of removing the different hats and how important that it is....when you are flying youngbirds...you cant have your old bird hat on or even your teenage bird hat on...they are different hats and different birds....the best fanciers will give the young birds more slack....and old birds...very little.....

So....dont cull a baby...you would not wack your two year old everytime if fell while it was learning to walk......I have found some of the Best birds may do it once or twice when real young and LEARN to not do it again....just like you will have YOUNG birds....leave the kit when they come into the roll....or even land early....but that is more from shock of the roll and trying to get a handle on it...again...one of my good breeders...a Ruby roller all black hen...stayed away from the kit as a 4 month old bird....when she came into the roll...but then went back to the kit...and kit like glue....she is a very good breeder and Dwight Wallace is getting some good birds from her...but again...I could have culled her for not kitting....but PATIENCE with young birds....

rock and ROLL

They are like babies falling on their buttocks learning how to stand. As everyone said, give it chance for now by upping the feed and let it mature. Hopefully it will strengthen out when it gets older. If not, it will either cull itself or ..... Obviously this is more work for you.
