Received my 8 Compartment Breeding Pen a few days ago and apparently there was no instructions included on how to put the compartment together.
Before I start the heavy lifting.... just wanted to know what tools are required (pliers, wrench, screwdrivers... etc) and how long should it take to put it all together.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Marcus, all you need is a pliers and your two hands. The metal clips are squeezed to hold the wire pens from collapsing:
Here is a shot of the completed pen:
Build the wire pens first, then setup the blue metal frame, carefully place the pens inside the frame starting with the bottom and work your way up.
Tighten the hook crews around the white part of the wire and place in holes on the blue frame and place the nut on and hand tighten them.
Insert the wheels into the bottom leg of each corner and you are pretty much done. Enjoy! ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Marcus, Do you like orange juice? I have the same unit. It works great but using the provided cups for the feed was a problem. The cock's dig and throw feed everywhere. Wasteful! Solution, 96oz bottles of Minute Maid O.J. Drink the O.J.,(Smile) pour hot tap water into empty bottle and let stand for ten minutes, then peel off label. Cut two opposing holes two inch's from bottom, 1 1/2" to 2" around. As the cock's dig the feed just bounces off and falls back in. There is some waste but it is dramatically reduced. Also, provide a board for the pair to mate on, or there is the possibility of infertile eggs. Remove the board as soon as the second egg is laid. Thom

Thom- I put a 1"x3" board in the feed and water compartment and use the plastic cup for water in front of compartment. then I bought 8-12" alum chick feeders with the tops with holes for there heads, and that works well.JDA

Glenn, I don't know if you know this, but there are four levels with each level having 2 individual compartments, hence 8 compartment breeding pen. FYI ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

I've been using mine for 5-6 years and they work great. Size is not a problem. I also use the 96 oz OJ bottles with a hole cut on each side as a feeder. ---------- Keep em Spinning Joe

Glenn, in my opinion which is based on owning several units and using them since 2004, they are 8 compartments and hold 8 breeding pair just fine. BTW, I still buy into tail-flex! lol ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

I found that the feed and waterers cause the birds to rub the feathers off there crops and my old ass is done crawling around on the floor to take care of the ones on the bottom. They look real nice, they're real easy to clean and I know lots of people that use them and are happy with them. We went in together and bought 6 units. if you spend over a $1000.00, you can get them at Jedds for $180.00 each. one of our guys drove over and picked them up. It cut way down on the shipping cost. I went back to what I was useing and had no problem selling them for what I had in them. So I got to try them for free.

DeepSpinLofts... I use these same kind of pens also. What I did was to take 2 side by side sets and hang them on one wall and hang the other set(4)on the opposite wall in my breeding loft. I put them at a height that was easily accessable to me and up off the floor about 4 feet.

Al, isn't that $180 for 1 level? So for 4 levels is $180 x 4 = $720 plus sales tax in CA?? LOL. Not too cheap in my book. As for crawling on floor, bending at the knees works for me. Take care. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hello Tony:
A proper stall for pigeons is 36" X 18" X 18" and even better if you got the room is 36" x 24" x 24" both with wire floors and trays. Tail Flex = useless...if a bird is held off blance it's tail will flex.....Glenn

Tony, retail was $250.oo. they said if we spent at least $1000.00 We could get them at $180.00 each. Just like the ones posted above, 8 holes. One of the guys from here went over to pick them up and we chipped in gas. 6x$180.00 = $1080.00 anyway I only paid $180.00 each for them. Maybe I got over LOL LOL. If you sell these and I'm talking out of school, I didn't know. bending at the knee's is over for Me. They didn't charge tax. Have a great day Al.

Al, yes, I see what you are saying. Once upon a time I too could get the pens for $180, that was some time ago before the prices went up up up! Jedds wholesale price is now $273.96 for an 8 compartment unit, the retail is $339.
As for not paying tax? I am sure the CA State Franchise Tax board would be interested to know that Jedds was doing that! You DO NEED a resale number to avoid paying sales tax, also, any wholesale items you buy and use, you are required to pay sales tax on it.
I am still a "spry" 50ish years old, bending at the knees so far is something that comes fairly easy. (knock on wood! lol) ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria
