I no that alot of you guys have yellow rollers and i need some info. There is a saying in the UK that yellow rollers do not roll? Well the line I keep I can trace back to my friend for about 6 years. In that 6 years not one yellow as shown up. I have kept all my birds pure to this line only so its not bcause of that reason. I have a red check saddle cock paired to a blue grizzle hen and they have produced a yellow bar and a white with a little black saddle. Is this classed as a so called mutt? To tell you the truth i am pritty excited about it and carnt wait to see if its true about them rolling o not. The cock is verry fast and deep and the hen fast but short. So the roll is there in the blood. I am just after abit of info as to why and were and what its all about? any comments please harrison.
also this year i have produced a Blue dunn i think?
check the eye on the check hen. Any comments please would help. Yours in roll harrison

Harrison: I have had yellows ( pure Pensom )that would spin with the best and currently have one now in the breeding pen. A little trivia here: The first roller ever banded with a Pensom Roller Club band was a yellow!-- P.R.C. 01/1945 by Joe Hine. ( attested to in a letter from Joe Hine to Jerry Selinger.) So you can see that they have been around for awhile and there is no reason for them not being able to spin if bred right.

Randy Gibson and the late Doug Brown used to raise some very nice yellows. Before Doug passed away he gave my son a yellow hen that he said was a good spinner. I currently have a yellow down out of Doug's yellows in my #1 team. It is about a 1.3 to 1.4 quality spinner with good frequency and about 20'. I have tried breeding some yellow, on a limited basis, with minimal success. Another way to get birds that look like yellows is to breed dilute to Opal and the dilute Opal birds will appear yellow. Randy and Doug made some beautiful yellows with white bars. Alot of time and effort to get the good white bars on them. Randy gave me one years ago and I lost it. I recently asked Randy if he had attempted to make any more and he said no as it takes alot of effort to do so without even factoring in whether the birds will spin or not. I have 6 month yellow that is starting to come in short and snappy. We'll see if it holds up. Some say yellow goes way back in rollers and some call them mongrels. The yellow in my #1 team is a good spinner that earns the right to be called a roller based on it's performance. So called color birds are alot of work and frustration, but I enjoy playing around with color a little in between breeding my squeaker kits up for the flying season. If you enjoy the color then go for it! Adds extra fun to the hobby for some!

Hey Macsrollers I was at Randys house just recently when he flew for the W/C and he had a yellow that stood out from the kit. It was doing at least 50 ft with nice speed and style.Even Johnny Smith said (thats the best yellow I've ever seen). I've also seen some nice 20-30 footers at Paul Ramirez house.

Thank you guys. The yellow is coming on realy well now and should be ready this time next week to move away from the pairents. I suppose color has nothing whatsoever to do with the way a pigeon rolls? It comes from a verry good deep cock and fast short grizz hen. So yes the goods are there. I am pyrely in this hobby bcause I love ROLLERS. The color doesnt bother me. But I have taken a likeing to this yellow in paticular as I want to try and prove some friends wrong when they say yellows dontr. My friend does have a yellow check hen and she dont go over whatsoever. But she produces outstanding rollers. Its crazy bcause people say bests to best witch I agree. And they say a roller will not produce a roller. I have seen with my oun eyes what this non roller can produce and it leaves me dumm struck. Have any of you guys come across a roller that dont roll produce good rollers? My friends yellow was from his best stock pair so he decided to give it a go in the breeders just to see if it could do anything. One of the best things he has done conserning his birds. So its fingers crossed and I will post the outcome. Thank you for taking time to read and post back. Yours in roll harrison uk hull. picture of friends check yellow.

hi all harrison out of all the rollers ive seen + thats thousands + thousands .i can count on 1 hand the good yellows ive seen.so they do exist but very seldom.2 or 3 really stick out in my mind .at 1 time i was going to try + breeda family of them.to see if i could get an established kit of them going.but the 2 i had to start with rolled down like a bag of rags. so i killed them both.all these people who tell you there is good yellows may be right but how many birds have they had to see to see 1 good yellow.
