I bought 20 real good flyers from a buddy of mine. They are 08 birds and have been flown some at his house. How long do you guys think a man should keep them shut up before flying them ?? He lives way across town from me about 12 mile.. I have had them in a flying loft for 23 days now. How much longer do you think I should keep them in ??? They were never alowed to raise young. He broke the eggs .

Thank You

I always keep birds in for 30 days .and making sure they trap on my command and of cause they should know me and the surroundings by then...just make sure they didn't eat the day before you let them out won't hurt them if anything it will give there organs a rest and you have better control when hungry.....you can also let out a few with some old ones you already have train.good luck

I think the absolute best way to train older kit birds that have been flown somewhere else is to raise a squeaker kit first and get them flying and kitting, then release one bird each day until all 20 have been added. I would think the would work best for you. I know a guy who lost aprx 70 birds by just trying to keep them hungry but older birds are going to go up and their minds is on the images they once had and it just confuses them. Do you have any kits flying at your house already? introduce one at a time and hopefully the kitting instint will kick in. BIll C

Thanks a lot !! Yes I have 2 kits that I raised myself flying now. So that is what I will do. I have one older kit and a young kit. So I will get these new birds started in a week or so.

Thanks again

If you have a kit flying and the birds are kit fit i would fly them anything from 2 days even the day after, a couple at a time with your birds.
