Havent really talked about it, But yesterday I got home to notice my loft door was open, usally not really a big deal however last week I noticed that one of my doors to my open loft needed repair, So I put it off. BAD DEAL!!! upon further inspection I noticed three of my main hens missing. three outta 8,, Man this hurts and I imedatly started to rate my losses, One hen was breed for stock and never seen the air, The other was a "04" bird that hasent been up in years, And last but not least my 02 hen she is basically the backbone of my family. after rating my losses my 02 check hen was the biggest loss. So the 15 hens that are flying will be looked @ alittle closer, I got at least 3hree rounds off of each hen, But it still cut's me deep.. Thanx for your time...

Cost of one pigeon loft 8X12 $3,000
Cost of feed $60 a month
Three hens breaking your Heart.....Painful!!!!!!!

LOL Rookie, Yea I hear you about watching them. But my work is odd and I am always on call, So I just let the Young Birds choose alittlebit of free wilss=yesor me this is the only way to work my 3teams of rollers. I do spend time watching them in the morning but mostly on the sceond flight in the evning when I get home. I really study them on the weekend as most of the time Im off. But good point. I left today about 12pm or so and I found my 02 Check hen in my flying box, and I let up my cock birds and another one I lost my 04 Bluebar settled on the roof, I didnt waste anytime netting her,, so all is well and I got 2 outta three hens back the only one missing is a younger hen, so Ill take my lumps, Kinda wierd that I lost her and today one of her offspring became one with the street... Bummer but I can live with one crash outa six she produced.. So all is well and if I had to loose one it would have been her, Based on age... thank you all for your support and know that I went to the hardware store and got some spring henges..LOL thanx for the input...

Booker, go buy a $2 spring and put it on your loft doors. Don't use wood screws to secure the spring. Drill a hole and use a nut and bolts with lock washers. You should never again have to worry about your door not being latched if you do this. I learned this the hard way, same as you. Don M. LVRC
