This is Bill Roy who after his fly was in 8th place.
This is Mrs. William Roy
This is just part of the crowd that came to Bill's home just to watch 20 pigeons fly for 20 minutes. It is all about people, ain't it?

Scott,
It was windy as hell and because of that the kit was not the same kit that I saw in the regionals. He does have some real good birds and has been at this hobby awhile. He; Spike Gilmore; and Bob Westfall pass birds amoungst themselves. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Norm just couldn't get the edge back on his birds after the regionals. He has some damn fine pigeons. I was going to make it to his fly, but just ran out of time and I could only swing the Bill Roy fly.
Norm is on of those solid good guys in this hobby and it is always a treat to visit his place. Jim Bowen lives near buy and between the two of them they can fly some damn good kits. It is always a good visit there. ---------- Just My Take On Things

I find that one of the biggest challenges in the sport of flying competition rollers is the transition from the regionals to the finals. 90% of kits do not perform as well in the finals as they did in the regionals, myslef included. Cliff

Nick, Doesn't Bill Roy fly mostly Ray Sanchez stock? I know he used to fly mostly Jacs, But last I heard Bill Roy was flying Ray Sanchez and Sanches Jac crosses. Is this correct or not? KGB

Kenny, I spent some time with Bill after everyone left and he is flying jacs. He does have some from Ray but I wasn't under the impression they were taking him in a new direction. Bill is successful with his jacs. I think he is staying with them. Of course, Bill could tell you better than me. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hi Tony, Thanks for the information. I asked because of what I heard about a certain Blue check W/F cock and a red mealy bar cock Bill Had gotten from Sanchez. I heard these two were really bringing the depth and quality. To point Bill.was looking for a mealy hen. I hadn't heard about Bill Roy doing so well especially in the D&Q until the last few years. So I thought maybe the cross had stepped his program up a notch. Ask Bill about those two cocks for me. I would like to know if he is really using them. I'm told the Jacs from a guy down there named Joe John Gobbs) sp is probably wrong LOL really flys some top shelf Jacs and many of Bill Roys Jacs are from him. Do you know anything about these Jacs? Bill Roy looks to be a real flyer and manager! I always like to know what the winning lofts are up to. Congrats to Bill Roy. I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot more from him! KGB

Joe John Gotts is his name. I will give Bill a call and ask him about the Sanchez birds. I knew he had a Sanchez bird or two, but I don't know what he has got in his breeding program. Got a bunch of what they are calling "Gilroys" which is a mixture of Gilmore and Roy and those are Jac Based. ---------- Just My Take On Things

The more I get around in the country I am finding that a lot of top notch fliers have families that are Jac based. People like Thibodeaux; Westfall; Roy; McCormick come to mind and I know there are others. I am now working with Thibodeaux and Cheney birds and I am finding them to be a very busy and strong birds. Not very docile. The Thibodeaux's are Jac based. I haven't competed with them yet, but I am getting anxious to do so. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Hey Nick, A lot to be said for breeding over 200 pair of rollers. Law of avrages.. If you sold say 600 birds a year and 3 guys got a good one a year. That would make 60 guys with good Jac based familys over a 20 year span. Then take the number of guys that got birds from those that bred the good ones. Jacs were sold like Pepsi and Bud wiser in this country for many years. The sheer number sold and amount of Jacs out there, demands there be some good ones. Its the law of averages. The AmWay system if you will, LOL KGB

Kenny,
I believe it. I don't think people that have birds from Westfall should be calling them Jac based. Hell, he had the same family since 1985. I think they are Westfall birds now. Same can be said about Thibodeaux. He has had Jac birds longer than Jaconette had them..........I think you can call his Thibodeaux birds by now and not even talk about Jaconette when dicussing his birds. ---------- Just My Take On Things
