Good advise Val!

My son is now 27, when he was 12, I walked into his bedroom and saw that he had taken a pencil and on the wall beside his bed he had scratched tic marks.

I blew a fuse, you expect a pre-schooler to do something like that. Not a 6th grader. I demanded a reason.

T-Boo said, "Dad, those marks are mornings and nights, when I woke up and you were already gone to work and then had to go to bed before you got home!"

There were 47 tic marks.

Task accomplished, he got my attention!

Thank you for that! It is tragic, but full of lessons. May I ask whose credit this belongs to? If you wrote this, you are a very wise man.

A tragic and sobering story...the best things in life are free! I spent this weekend going to church and playing with my grandchildren, watching them run around a sprinkler in 90 degree heat and a nice breeze, they were having the time of their life using a $5 sprinkler head. The joy and happiness was very evident by a blessed grandma and poppa.

Good story Val.

Rod, my friend Sal Ortiz(gotspin 7) sent it to me! Don't know where he got it, but it really hit home with me.

Like Roy, I too have a prodical son! We go round and round often! Kid could tear up an anvil with a flyswatter! The boy sure can run with the football though so I guess hes worth it! LOL

Wow. I needed to read that. Seems I'm often too serious with my boys and should just let them be kids. Last Friday when I came home from work they were playing in the sprinkler. They asked me to play with them. Most times I wouldn't have but I was having a bad weak and for some reason I was so out out with everything else I just went in the house and put my simming trunks on and ran through the sprinkler with them and let them spray wme with the hose and had water fights for an hour or so. Funny thing was I had a blast doing that with them. Sometimes we all need to get a little less serious and be like kids again.
