Pigeons are grain eaters, over the course of time, your performance birds digestive system will not even make it in the cage.Glen.

Breeders only - not pigeon pellets but broiler finisher pellets. (Too much salt and too high in protein in the pigeon ones in my opinion.) Tried them on my fliers but now feed only a mixture of: 45% hard wheat, 45% red milo and 10% millet. They also have oyster grit available at all times. Works for me anyways!

I feed mine purina (layena) for chickens, The breeders. I wean the young ones off on pelletts to half pelletts and half wheat, then to straight wheat. after 6 months or so, wheat, barley and milo. No problem. My young fly between 45 minutes to an hour at about 400 to 500 feet. At this point I'm only interested in muscle and wing strenghth. Good stuff.

JDA i live in australia, we dont have the same pellets that you guys use ,i buy my pellets from the vet.he manufactures them, and he also breeds pigeons. his name is collin walker.the only problem i had was soft poops, since i started to give tem pro biotics. twice a week the the dropings are normal like grain feed birds. i wont go back to grains they waist alot, with the pellets they eat the lot. no scatering. and it has all the vit min and the rite amount of nutrients that the pigeons need Toughrollers--Lofts Ralph

Dr. Colin Walker knows his stuff. I use chicken layer pellets and mix it with grains. I want my birds to learn how to eat grains as well.
