-Hi List, I have been flying my squeaker kit once a day when weather permits. They were hanging out on the loft longer than I like. So I started cutting there feed. Still trapping slow. I cut them a 3rd day. As i wanted to start flying them twice a day. So I could feed half ration when they trapped in the first time then the rest of feed when come in for the last fly.Well I let them out the next day and they flew in small tight circles and fast after a few min.3/4 landed in the field 100 yds. from the loft. I sent our Sherperd out to kick them up, Well they flew low again fast circles agian. I walked up to the house and looked back and didn't see them. I called Wendell and Morris wineing about them flying off low. I flew another kit. They flew 1 hr and trapped in. NO SQUEAKERS!!! AHHHH! After afew hrs. My wife talked me in to go look for them I said yea right! Well I got on the 4x4 and took off down the field behind me. It's is 1/2 mile to a woods. I got half way and was going to come back but thought what the heck go all the way. Well up by the woods there they were pecking around in the field about 300 yds away. I sent the Sheaperd to go kick them up. They beat me home!! They landed on the loft but would not trap. I was shaking a feed can. They took off again and landed on my big barn. I scared them up again. They landed in the field 2 more time. Finial I got them trapped in. I fed them all They could eat of Wheat,Peas,Milo, Saulflour, Grit Thye next day I flew them at 5pm and flew great even figure 8's. I flew them again at 8pm and and they did the same and trapped good. I feed them good after trapping. I flew them at 6 pm tonight and they did great again!! Some times they make you want to scratch your head! Kim T--------- Tapp

Good luck with them Tapp!
I was ready to cull my whole second youngest team. They were like a swarm of bees and I couldn't even get an idea of who the culprits were. I spent many evenings lately just focusing on these 16 birds. I don't set still very well. After pulling 4 birds the last couple of weeks, I think I did it! I told my wife they were all going in the bin if they were still at it today. I let them out and it was like a different kit was in the air. They got together and went to work flipping and stayed together. A big relief knowing all the work and time I've put in them wasn't going to waist. My wife and I watched them for 45 min or so, and I think every one of them was flipping. What seemed to be a disaster kit, might just turn out to be a decent one.
Later, I let my youngest kit out and flagged them for the first time today, up they went and caught a breeze and disappeared, after crapping a twinkie, here they came and they were together and several were tail sitting hard and a few of them hit some flips.
It was a good day for me! I'm going to bed with a smile on my face tonight!!!! ---------- Val

Val - A longtime friend of mine got rid of a family of birds that did not kit until 2 months. I have seen them and they spin like the devil. The first two months they are all over the place and then they kit like glue. He states that his birds do not spin as well anymore or kit as well as his old family birds once they matured. I made this comment "after two months your old stuff would kit like glue and spin very well right? Are you going to compete with a two month old kit?" No, he replied. "So, what difference does it really make because your old birds kitted better after two months than the guy up the road who culls squeakers in a few weeks? If you know they get it together in a few months in your line who cares. They eventually kit but start late. It is not like you have a lot of out bird culls in a few months." He said he never thought of it in this way. The kicker is they did kit well but around two months because the maturity level was later than his pals birds. But his pals knew in two months his birds kitted better. So he is now in the process of getting his old birds back. Go figure. Oh, by the way all of the guys that tried this line after the guy died stated the same thing that they do not kit as youngsters but most that I have spoken with stated they did kit well later on so it must be a family trait. Most did not like it but could not deny that they did eventually kit well.

Tapp, all I have to say is WOW! But it has also happened to me many moons ago. As long as we keep learning we will countinue to move forward with our programs. Good post bro.
Val, I also had a friend that had birds with kitting issues. Once the roll hit them the kitting issues got even worst. After a few years of trying to make it work he later dumped the whole family. What he kept hanging on to was that he was told that these were the real deal "true spinners" and not comp pigeons. He picked up another family with time and flew the two families together to see the difference between them and when they spun and as he flew the two families side by side the spin was just as fast. Which late drove to his final decision as he moved completely away from the " their is a pot of gold if you just wait a little longer family" and has been succesful ever since with his current family. I think sometimes you have to pick what best fits you and not worry so much about what happened to someone else as what ever is that happened to someone else it is most likely not going to happen to you. GO FIGURE...LOL

Sal - I think my friends issue that had the Niebels did not have kitting issues but a maturity issue (I only can speak of the ones he had as he is the only one I know that has this line). The birds did kit but they took two months to get it together. To some that may be an issue but that is like saying my birds come in at two months and anothers come in at six. Just a thought.
