I'm very sorry to post the loss of this bird. The message just came across Pigeon-Talk and also 911 Pigeon Alert. I know that someone here knows how to contact this club so the owner can be notified. I no longer have the contact info, so if one of you would kindly pass this info on, I would appreciate it.
Terry Whatley ----------------------------------------------------------- Bird Band # : AARC 2005 1589 Found in San Pablo, California (near SF Bay).
Appears that he was the victim of a hunter animal (cat, dog, or other). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I thought the owner would at least appreciate knowing the fate of the poor little guy.

LOL, did you ever see the bird roll? It's an old bird, you have any pictures. Did it produce anything good for you? Not mine, but I will try to find the breeder. Thanks for the post. ---------- GEORGE ALDANA HIGH GRAVITY LOFT

You know what, George? I am NOT amused with your reply. I work my butt off to rescue and rehabilitate pigeons and ALWAYS try to get the banded ones back home if the owner wants them. If the owner doesn't, then I either keep the bird myself or find it a good home.
This guy, Don, that found the dead bird cared enough to go on-line and find both Pigeon-Talk and 911 Pigeon Alert to try and let the owner know about the bird.
This is one of those days when I am totally disgusted with many of you so called pigeon fanciers. I cannot even begin to tell you what a BAD impression it makes on people who find banded birds to either get no response, a smart ass response, or for you to say you don't want the bird back and don't care what happens to it.
George, you don't totally deserve my little tirade, but today it's been this Roller that apparently nobody cares about, two Modenas, and a racing pigeon where the owners/breeders pretty much pooped all over the caring people that rescued THEIR birds. I am now two Modenas and one racing pigeon "richer" than I was before ..
Incidentally, I find it interesting that a 4 year old Roller is considered old .. blows my mind actually .. I have rescued Rollers here that are 10+ years old and racing pigeons that are 16-18 years old .. guess life is short for a Roller that is flown all the time or for those that don't measure up.

Terry, I'm confident that George probably isn't aware of the service you generously provide to the pigeon community, but rather assumed you are a roller flyer who was simply mourning the loss of a stock bird or something to that affect.

Thanks for the reply BA .. I'm not buying it .. still really PO'ed about things ..
I think I have yet to see a Roller fancier really mourn anything here .. be it a stock bird or other. Sorry .. I am really PO'ed right now. I'll get over it, but I won't continue to try and get your Rollers home if all of you are just going to blow it off on the list here.

Terry,
I know George personally and I know that he did not mean anything by his post. Just like BA...said I think he thought it was your bird. George is a real nice guy....Just wanted to let you know that.

Terry,
I really appreciate your efforts in trying to locate the owner of this pigeon to inform him of it's fate. I am sure there are many other pigeon fanciers who do appreciate your service and do care about their birds so I hope you reconsider your decision to stop providing your pigeon owner locator service to us that fall in this category. ---------- DJJeffman Spinners

Thank you all for the replies, and I offer my apologies to you all for being so very, very angry. Unfortunately, I can only "suck it up" on so many birds on a given day before my emotions override my intellect.
I guess I never learn cuz I'm gonna post another here just to see if anybody knows who owns the bird ..

TAWhatley, I ment absolutely no harm with my post. Like Paul mentioned I thought it was your bird, and you were posting the lose of a great one. What I ment by "It's an old Bird" is assuming you were a flier. That bird might of been a breeder for you, given the fact that it might of already proved itself to you. That's why I asked if it produced any good birds for you. No, I did not have any idea you rescue and rehabilitate pigeons. That LOL in my last post was more like a brain fart, it was past midnight. I will make some call's today and find the owner for you. ---------- GEORGE ALDANA HIGH GRAVITY LOFT

George,
Thank you for your gracious reply. If you can find the owner and let that person know, I would appreciate it. If the owner can't be located, then so be it.
I'll do my best to be more understanding here, but I just have a real hard time "getting it" since I really am an outsider .. I don't breed pigeons, race pigeons, or fly pigeons .. I just happen to love pigeons and do my best to help them when I can.
The other pigeon mentioned in this thread is most likely a West Of England Tumbler, so I didn't make a new thread about it. If, however, anyone knows who might band with a personalized band (aluminum) with only RUIZ and the # of the bird, please let me know as I have RUIZ 734.
