What would cause eggs that are fertile with the squab inside. And the squab dies about a week before hatching. It's like they just stopped incubation halfway. Both Hen and Cock took their turns setting on the nest. Help!!!!!!

Salmonella in the egg could be a cause. Give your birds Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother), one teaspoon per. gallion of water. At the start of each breeding season, I would also encourage treatment with 4 in 1 and worming the breeders.

Old fart, good advice. If it happens to the same pair over and over, one or both parents could be the cause.

We have had bad Thunder Storms just about every week this spring in Indiana. Seems like they never stop. Just had another this morning. And Oldfart I will take your advice also. I'll try one more time before they all start to molt this fall.

Question. I have a pair of Rollers that twice this year have layed nonfertile eggs. So could it be the hen. Or possible the cock is shooting blanks? Their healthy, act like a mated pair should. But no offspring. Anyone have an answer on how to find out what the problem is and how to fix it? forest68

rookie from ct. The cage is big enought. One of Foy's breeding cages. No, I did not worm them this spring. Would that make a big differents? As for the fertile eggs. No she hasn't. This past time I just let her set. I broke this eggs after twenty days. They looked like she just layed them the day before. Does this help you in any way? Thanks forest68

ct. Going to give it a try. Doesn't hurt. When should you stop letting them breed? I heard you shouldn't let them breed during molting. forest68

ct They have a fly pen to extercise in. Which is the small barn that the cages are in. I leave the doors open if they want to go outside. But they seem content to stay indoors. I might have spoiled them. Everything I do ,seems like the wrong thing to do. forest68

ct I'm going to let this pair rest. And try again next year. But I'll make sure that I worm them from the start. I'll probably need a good worming myself, by that time. Thanks forest68
