afternoon, i have this 5 month old bird i've been flying everyday sometimes twice a day which never done more than five fee, today they were flying a redtail hawk chased them a little. this bird was trying to land and started a roll in which he hit the ground she was a little above the pole. i went and got her and ran cold water on her for a few minutes she still seems to try and roll in my hand and when i put her in the box. what shall in expect from this.

"what shall in expect from this"

by this do you mean will she survive? possibly

do you mean will she continue to
roll more that 50 ft? possibly

will she do this every time a bop comes?possibly

or will she stop rolling in your hand? possibly

the answer might just be possibly

Hate to disappoint you that this bird is a roll down. Once you get a few roll downs you will recognize the pattern.

I don't want to hurt your feelings here but I'm gonna tell it to you straight. Birds like these are culls. I have never seen one gain control after it has lost it. Some gradullay lose it, and some altogether like yours. Be glad it was altogether which makes the decision easier. In my opinion there are are only two choices. You can eat this bird and my recommendation is pop the breast out and put a slice of onion behind the breast bone and wrap a piece a bacon around it and stick a toothpick in to hold in place and fire up the grill, or if you don't want to do that. Humanely dispose of the bird. If either of these choices are too painfully difficult this may not be the hobby for you. You can spend a lot of time and effort agonizing over a bird. This is another reason why you should not name your birds. Or get too attached, or think becasue you got them from so and so they are all great. The top flyers cull these kind of birds and that's why they win comps and have good stock. You can always make more. I love raising cattle and pigeons and I give them the best of everything and I love seeing the baby calves born and baby pigeons feather out each year. And I think you should practice good animal husbandry by keeping the water clean, animals fed properly, treated for parasites etc. But you should also respect them enough to know when they need to go, be put down, eaten, etc. I have no problem fattening a beef to put in my freezer, and anybody that thinks that that makes me awful is either a sissy, or a spoiled person living in a dream world where Kroger produces the food they eat. Not sure your gender but I think a lot of men these days are getting soft. Man-up fellas.
