Here are a few pics of my kitbox that I am building.
Each side is 3'x3'x3'. I used 1 inch poultry mesh for the bottom then will be adding a slide out wooden tray underneath that.

re: "Kitbox In Progress"
I like the way it's being engineered 3x3x3. Should be able to hold 2 teams in both of those kit boxes. I say progress is a good thing... so be sure to let us see the final construction of your project.

Thanks Marcus this is my first kitbox ever so I am pretty excited.
It is very difficult to fly birds outta the breeding loft having to catch each flyer one at a time and then releasing it...

Hay Game nice start and you better forget about Party this weekend and finish your kit boxes YOU can not fly birds like you are doing it because breeders should always have food and your flyers should fly hungry try putting the ones your are going to fly in a large box and release them together they will kit better where in NY are you Rookie from Ct

Looks great so far. I gotta agree with JDA and Paul on the wire tho... Young birds especially will have a really tough time on that wire, and a coon or weasel can tear through it pretty easy ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

Jnyce birds are doing ok. I lost a lot of the cooper hawk. My breeding season was a diasaster I lost way too many youngs probably around 10. I also had times when only 1 egg was fertile.
I only have 7 youngs at the moment. Once this kitbox is up it will free a lot of room in the breeding loft for the breeders. There will be less fighting and more food for them.
As far as the chicken wire goes I will be adding a wood floor underneath it that will slide out for cleaning. I couldn't get a hold of any other wiring. They were all too small from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch.
Because the chicken wire is so flimsy I will add extra rafters that will take all the weight of the water and feeder.
I wish I could have all this done by the weekend but I dont think it will be ready for another couple of weeks or more. I just got surgery on my foot today. One of my toes was short so it is being lengthend. Recovery is gonna any where from 3-5 months.

Where are you going to keep your water and feed on top of that chicken wire? It will hold if you put about four 1x3 boards spaced across the bottom and staple the chicken wire to the boards.JDA

looks good so far. you might find 1x1 or 1x2 at a fencing supply, rather than home depot/lowes. that way you won't need as many supports, which will only collect more droppings. of course, as long as you put a few rafters across you'll be ok if you cannot find the galv wire. i'd just be concerned with how the birds feet will handle the chicken wire which is smaller gauge. oh, and you were right about the feather lice on those new birds.

Hey Donnie im not too sure how many birds to keep in there. I will be using box perches and each side is 3'x3'x3'.
I will only be using one side for Rollers. The other side will be for homers/doneks. They will probably get V perches.
As far as color goes ill be painting the roof white. The legs white and any trims that I add white. The sides will be painted a grayish color to match my loft.

I just don't like the chicken wire becauase it is very flimsy. But its ok if it hard for the birds this will keep them up in their boxes and off the ground. It will also discourage them from breeding.

dont worry bout the gap so much, having a door thats 2.5" thick wouldnt open if it was tighter then that, anyways just gives you a little more ventilation lol. ---------- Tony... "Color is not an option"

Steve its some of that pre finished siding material I had left over. It's the same stuff my loft I have now is made from.
I used it for the door to give it a cool look lol. But I do plan on painting the walls that same greyish color and then doing the trims white so it matches the loft.
