Robert, you should give it 2 days of rest and put it back in the kit,if it didnt figure out how to stop,it will eventually kull itself.
that bird is not good for stock,if it hit the concreet and lived ,it wasnt rolling fast enough..

There is a world of difference between a bird that just bumped and a roll down, rest it depending on if it is hurt or not, from what you described give a good week or two

Rolling down sometimes is a manager induced. Sometimes it is the manager mistake that will make a roll down out of a bird. Rest the bird for couple of days and give him a high protein grains and plenty of it, then fly him again. If he continues to roll down, the bird is a cull. However, if the feed corrects the problem then you know that you are under feeding your birds. Some birds’ can handle that and some don’t. If you are flying them hungry in the heat and without being conditioned, then you are asking for trouble.

Hi Robert....

Very interesting post!

It's important to understand that a rolldown pigeon has such a long series of uncontrollable neural epiletic impulses to roll.... that the pigeon cannot literally stop itself from rolling except by hitting the ground or another solid structure.

Sometimes this will not stop them from killing themselves. I have seen birds roll down to the ground very hard and then continue to keep rolling across the ground like a parlor tumbler. This I would characterize as the really strong impulses to roll. The birds with weaker impulses range anywhere from a champion performer.... to a bird that can overcome this unstoppable urge and simply not roll at all in the air.

NOTE: We have all heard the saying that "some birds are possessed by the roll while some birds posses the roll". The birds that possess the roll are the ones that are able to overpower the urge to roll until they feel like cutting loose with a goody.

.....also

They are able to roll different depths due to being able to control the starting and stopping point of these rolling impulses. Let us remember they can roll at lower altitudes (without bumping) and adjust the depth and or speed as needed. Rollers displaying both stability & velocity while rolling frequently are the most desirable to have and often the hardest to find. It would be a good idea to mate the best of these type rollers to similar birds in order to reproduce the same.

....well anyway

I agree with Scott. Rest it for a couple of days or a week or two, then seee what happens after flying the bird again.

I had one that roll down coming down to land an 09,it just let one out hit the grass hard so I said I will put it away for month give it time to mature but instead gave it a week. I wanted to see if it learn from his mistake which it did hasn't roll down since..just never send it back up it could be hurt give a few days feed it up....
