I took a look to see if anyone had responded to my post 1000, a poem about my friend Frank Lavin, only to find that the topic had been locked. It seems that a sick individual had twisted my meaning and derailed my effort to honor Frank. It is ironic that here in America we are supposed to be a model for freedom and yet there are still some of those so narrow and bigoted that they cannot tolerate views other than their own. Just for the record, I wrote that poem in the late 1970s, I believe.. and Frank has not seen it yet. I'm going to send it to him today. Also just for the record, not that it is anyone's business, I am not a Muslim, but I was only using one of the many names of the ONE GOD... who is father of us all.. Paul Gomez

Paul, The poem was nice and the intentions I'm sure were well intended. Unfortunately, some saw an opportunity to show their ass and get everyone riled up. Tracey

Hi Tracey, There were only a couple of hard line bigots. Trying to mask their hatred under the false mask of patriotism...or religion. I think most, like us, saw that there was nothing to be alarmed or even concerned about. Thanks for voicing your opinion.. Actually, I looked and found that the thread had been deleted... So Frank is not honored the way I intended... That's not right..!! Paul

Paul, I hope you are not reading into things more than what was intended by each poster. Unless you read minds... ;-)
The Forum Committee voted to remove the thread on the forum, not for the poem itself, but for the discussion it invoked. However, your wonderful tribute to Frank is in the article section: Here
As we know, we all have different experiences and ways of interpreting life and its happenings, and so we should all be careful about reading too much into what someone posts. I know I have read too much into posts and have taken my lumps for doing so, my advice is to let it go.
Take satisfaction in that your tribute to Frank Lavin has been placed in the articles section where it can be read and enjoyed by all. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Tony, I just tried to call you to ask about this issue, and I thought that you might interpret my comment as being partly directed towards you. But it was not directed towards you. I don't think I misinterpreted the meaning of the posts that caused the problem tho.... I hope you don't mind me posting the poem again.. I just did it before reading your comment. Oh, and if my poem thread was removed, why is the locked religion thread being allowed to remain. Paul

Paul/Nick you don't have a clue what is in any one of our hearts, don't even pretend like you know who I am or what I stand for, I have my own opinion on both of you also , but I won't post it, you clowns may want to follow my lead.
Jay Star, thanks for your post on the other thread, it gave me something to think about and was an eye opener.

Anyone that feels compelled to keep this conversation going should take it off line. This should suffice as an official warning.
Refer to the Posting Policy: • Defaming or slander against any individual or entity. • Endless arguing or relentless questioning when question has been adequately addressed in another post. Lack of respect for the forum, its members, its objectives. Senseless rhymes and word play. Posts seeking other forum members to respond to taunts. • References to someone’s ethnicity, religion or race.
Thanks, Colors

Scott, I agree that what you read in a post is not always what was intended by the poster. Having said that, I will also say that there are some posts that have to be judged at face value no matter how many ways you try to look at them. Go back and look at the wording of your response. I find it hard to believe that your intentions were not to piss off some of the Forum members. If in fact that was not what you intended, you should have reasonably expected your response to stir up problems. Having read many of your responses and posts on this Forum, you have a history of deliberately starting arguments and stirring the pot. Some will say you keep the Forum upbeat and interest-ing when you do this, I say you take away from the value of the Forum because of the hard feelings you cause. I will get off my soap box and let you respond but I would like to leave you with the following advise. We all have thoughts and beliefs that are not always socially or politically correct. When voicing these beliefs could reasonably be expected to cause others pain or sorrow, I believe we need to be extra sensitive how we voice those opinions. I do believe you owe all the members of this Forum not just the Muslim brothers/sisters, a sincere apology for the comment you made.
