Steve a break is when your birds roll together not in a waterfall witch one starts and another then another they are to brake all at within 1 seconds of the trigger bird that is the one that seems to lead the kit and start the brakes ( hay Thom soon i will change my name ) rookie from ct

Check out this video which shows a nice brake at 56 seconds of 5 birds. They suppose to drop withing the same second not 1 second after the first bird.

hey Thom, i'm not mad, just stating the obvious about how everyone got off track here. anyhoo, i don't know all the commonly used terms, but i'm sure you all do. on scoring kits, what terms are used to describe what the kit is doing, and that sort of thing.

Steve, It's hard for us to know what you know and what you don't know. The best thing is for you to go and see kits fly and ask questions. That is the only way for you to learn.

Every one has different terms of explaining things. What are you trying to learn?

Steve, The last time I flew in a comp. was in the seventy's so I will defer to the modern day fly-er. I will however would be glad to chime in on anything I know a little about. :)

These all may not be "pro" terms or even common. It depends on your area's lingo:

Bumper - rolls and hits objects usually when coming in to land.

Rolldown - rolls and hit an object (usually the ground) from a considerable height causing great injury or fatality.

Spastic - a bird that rolls out of the kit and upon its return rolls out again. Usually trails the kit.

Cutter - bird that cuts across (takes a shortcut) to get in front of the kit at the beginning of the turn. Not good!

Turn - the smaller radius of the oval flying pattern. Usually where breaks occur.

Figure 8 - a flying pattern that is desired for obtaining breaks. (2 oval flying patterns each flown in the opposite direction giving a the look of a figure).

Duplexing - a kit that breaks up into two kits, one flying over the other.

lil jess, thanx, that's exactly what i was looking for. the turns explanation was one of those i've heard but didn't know. after i've flown a bit more, i'm sure as i spend more time at others watching their kits, i'll come to know the terms naturally
