That sucks! Don't be too hard on Mom, the birds can always be replaced. Hopefully you will get some back or someone will step up and help you out.

None of my birds were home because I fly my birds in east LA and breed my birds at my house in south central. I dont have any young because of the hawks and cats I was only breeding about four pairs so I didnt have many young. There is only four birds I care about the rest I dont,a guy named Art Martinez gave me two of his birds and the third one was from Rayvon hall and the four one had an nsrc band on it.They were three hens and one cock the others I dont care for.. Chris, The two that made it back, are they a pair? If so maybe you need to build a family off of them. Keep your chin up, everything happens for a reason! Tracey

Sorry to hear you lost your breeder birds Chris, There was a post on helpful hints here a while back and I put in there that , You should have springs on your doors for safety. I had once left a door unlock or unhitched and when I had gone to feed the next day I noticed it but the springs kept the door shut. I had gotten a few old cages from Chan Grover and still have them today and they came with springs on the door for that same reason. Be sure to put a spring on your door soon. Hope you get them all back. Bill C

chris_sclarollers....I know the damage is already done and I really feel sorry for YOU. So in the future do as I do. I put door springs on all my doors. This way I don't have to worry about shutting them. They will close themselves....no need to worry about doors staying open anymore.. Just a helpfull hint..

I agree with Paul, on using springs on the doors.
My kids fed the birds one morning while I went on a local fly.
When I returned after dark to check on the birds, Mr. Raccoon was inside placing an order.
He was unable to reach the birds & now the doors have springs and a closer off of a screen door. Works great.

Thanks Ralph,
Been here for years.
I had Tony change my user name, JT and all my # of post disappeared with it.
There was starting to be too many initials TT, TJ, JT, JTA, & so on. Just needed a change.

Maybe the lavender hen his hungry (VERRY) you could get a round rubbish bin lid and Prop it up with a stick. Tie a long length of line to the stick and put some feed underneath the lid. When the bird goes under pull the line and the lid falls on the bird trapping it undrneath. Even your mum could do this whilst your at work. Its so easy to do. Its what we use to do as lads catching stray pigeons. just an idea. good look harrison uk hull.
you could use a box even just put the stick at one end and pull the line whilst its eating away it will fall on top of the bird. if your at work and dont get chance to trap the bird in the loft the this is a way anyone can catch it for you without having to open shed doors risking losing more birds. good look.
