Rats, Why?? you can,t get any of the rat poison in bar form to throw under things out of way of other livestock? You need to get rid of the rats, they will take your breeders right off the nest. JDA

Hey Ali, I will say welcome anyway. It hurts to fly when your young birds are heavy in the moult. Their flight feathers are gorged with blood and cause them pain. They can still fly but I do not push mine very hard in this time period. How long will very. I don't know if there is a set time period. If you do have mice you need to rid yourself of them. Their droppings can make your birds sick and even kill them. Is it possible there could be a snake in your loft stealing eggs?

On the question of molting period. Do Pigeons molt the same time all over the US? I live in the Midwest. Would a Pigeon in CA molt the same time as Pigeons in IN ?

i believe molt has to do a lot with, environment, breed, climate, and a specialy how much stress the birds go's threw in a daily basis.as for how long the molt is , probably depends on how the health is at the time of molt,if the molt is a heavy molt it will pass sooner than a slow molt, since we all know the growth rate of feathers ,will change depending on these factors
