one of my youngsters was flying with the kit, when all of a sudden it started to roll, and it couldn't stop. i lost sight of it, as it cleared the treetops about 200 yards away. when i went to where i thought it had crashed, i couldn't find it. 15 minutes later it was on my roof, apparently unharmed. it trapped and it ate. SHOULD I LET IT OUT tomorrow? lock it down? need help with this one.

Steve, You watched a bird bump because it is young, in the moult, underfed, overfed..... just slipped? One time does not make a roll down, if it is in fact a roll down the problem will solve it's self. Do you remember the first time you tried to roller skate? I'll bet you ass was on the ground more then your feet! GRIN I know mine was!! I would let it out and watch it close, if it is moulting heavly keep it up for a little while, then try again. Thom

hi Thom. this bird is in my first kit, so they're all around the same age, maybe 6-8 weeks, and not moulting. i'm not positive it actually bumped, but it really did roll from up high, say at least 350 or higher. i couldn't believe i was watching it. i kept saying, "ok, pull out now!". this particular bird is always the last to exit the kitbox to fly, and today i had to chase it off my roof to join the others. wonder if there's any significance to that? once its in the air, it flys with the others. the thing that threw me was, none of these birds have done any rolls even approaching what this bird did today. i have one bb w/f that really rips fast, but its not very deep yet. this was the first time i had ever seen this. of course, i haven't seen enough kits yet for that to be much of a revelation. ;) ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY
