Use, 5% seven dust from the garden center. Dust the whole bird lightly. Wear a dry wall mask while you are dusting them. Thom

smeyer02, I use a small shaker can I got at Wall Mart for a couple of bucks. You can also use an old pair of pantie hose, just cut off and fill the toe section and tie it off to make a dusting bag. Then just pat the bird. It helps if you have someone help dust while you hold the bird. I hold, my wife dusts. I extend both wings and the tail, then flip the bird over and repeat to the bottom surfaces. Thom

For mites, lice and pigeon flies: "Black Flag" Flying Insect Spray. As strange as it sounds it actually works very well. It won't hurt the birds as long as you avoid their eyes. It's especialy good the night before shows if you notice a problem. An old fancier(now past)clued me in on this.

A good product called BRONCO works great for lice as well as other bugs and flies. Its in most farm and feed supply stores, it will be in the horse section more than likely. It runs about 4 bucks a quart or 9 to 10 bucks by the gallon.

Like Thom I have used the Sevin dust for years. I have even gotten a little out of control with the powder and never had a bird show any ill effects. Sevin dust will take care of any feather pests very quickly. Tracey

On this site Tony has Prozap Insectrin Dust on close out. This is what I have used for a long time and I get it from local feed store. It is what I have used for ticks on 4H pigs and my birds. You need to dust every bird you bring to you loft before you put them with your birds. That should be the end of your lice problem.Keep loft clean and birds bath with one cap of bleach in bath pan every month.JDA
