since i've been flying my new YB kit over the last 2 weeks, i can't believe the progress they have made to date. going from the insanity of the first day release, to the slow transition from flying crazies, to very decent kitting and flying over 30 minutes w/o flagging. this all has a giant smile on my face today. each day, over the last 3, the birds made tremendous progress, except one bird who was a RD but survived. i pulled it out today, and placed it with my new unflown kit to relax over the next week and not fly. i was happy to have my neighbor and her two kids come today to watch my birds fly, and then i let the kids handfeed the birds when they finished flying before they trapped. what a nice feeling to see an 8 and 11 y/o handling live birds for the first time, and bombarding me with questions. it was also great to have some of the birds actually doing some nice rolling, and to have the newbies amazed at such a feat. an altogether great experience for them as well as me. ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

thanx,Thom and Rookie. it really was awesome watching the birds not look anything like the kit from 2 weeks ago. its bad enough i think about flying the birds while i'm at work, but now i'm dreaming about them too. i know it'll lose some of its luster, but i just never knew it was going to be this much fun. and to think in another week or so, i'll have 2 kits, and when one lands, i can catch my breath, and let out the other. what a summer! ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

Steve, you've been bitten my friend! Once you start day dreaming and dreaming about your birds, its over and it only gets worse!People who don't raise birds really can not understand our "ADDICTION" to them and the rush you get from watching a kit fly and the best thing about it was the two kids seemed to enjoy them just as much. I guess we are all really kids at heart.......enjoy my friend!.....KEVIN

Steve, I hope you learned something valuable. You should be very proud of yourself.
....and
Even prouder of your birds!
The more we observe these magnificent acrobats of the air, the more educated we become about them as a performing breed.

Marcus, i definetly learned something valuable. and that's this forum is awesome and INVALUABLE!
Donnie, the hard work has paid off so far, and i am lucky about my neighbors. it was very nerve wracking while the birds were in their settling cage, and i knew my neighbors could see them. i assured them that they would fly and then come back to their kitbox and eat. i reached out to them, and offered to let them see it all close up. (i legally can keep them, but it makes more sense to impress and reassure and be responsible rather than tempt the legal side).
Kevin, yep, we're all 'addicted' and man, what can i say? its sure beats whatever is in second place!
Thom, JDA, rookie and Ralph (PR ROLLERS), i could not have done it without you guys!
and Ralph and Thom, you've been there each step of the way these past few weeks. you both are special people, and i hope to someday have you both sitting in my yard enjoying these fantastic acrobats with me! ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

Steve, The bug has BIT! Life will never be the same, you are ruined for life. Enjoy the good times because they don't last forever. When the BOP come calling or the kits just don't want to get with the program, remember the good times and work through the rough. Tracey
