Need help getting my kit to fly a little longer even though I tried changing the amount I feed them and what i feed them which is 15% mix. I do have different ages in my kit.

JR, Try seperating the young birds and the old birds and fly them seperatly, you should see a difference! also try a little more wheat in the feed. ---------- Pat

JR, i can chime in with, "have patience"! that's what everyone was telling me while i was trying to figure out how to get my new YB kit to stay up longer. i can tell you, now, two weeks later, they're flying 30 minutes, and this morning (sat) they flew almost one hour! i don't call them in, as i want them to build up muscle and strength. Pat's advice to separate the yb's sounds like that should help. the change in feed may also have an impact. i have started adding depura immunity which is imported, to my kits feed, and they're flying much longer, but i'm not sure how much of that is feed, and how much is simply experience and strength. ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

Steve, Thanks for the advise. I just noticed that you were having same issues as I am. I'm still reading on what others were helping you on. I'm glad that i'm not the only one having this problem. Keep up the good work. Jr

What is the right length of time for a kit to fly ? My birds usely fly 30 to 45 minutes. I don't Comp. fly my birds and was just wondering what is considered a normal time ?? I've always just flown them for my own enjoyment. And my neighbors like them as well Lee ~~ T-town-rollers

I'm also having that same problem, right now I am building another kitbox to seperate the younger one's. I have noticed when I don't fly with the younger ones the older ones do fly longer.

Lee, 30-45 minutes is great. i've found that the younger they are, the shorter the time they spend in the air. as they build up endurance (just like any athlete) they can fly longer, and choose to do so. ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY
