Hi guys. Well I gave some birds to a guy about a year ago and it turnd out a wrong move. He dont look after them and his shed is in a state. Yesterday he decided after a year he wanted to let some out. 8 have come to my house and have been here since yesterday. The thing is all my birds have just been treated for cancer and I dont want to let his birds in my shed due to the way he keeps them. No birds come in my shed apart from mine. He only lives in the street across from me and I think if they just get left out then will drift across to his house. But at the same time I dont want them hanging about my house causing nuisence with the naibours ,cats ect.... What do i do in a situation like this??? please any ideas. Harrison.

Harrison, Good call, I would not let them in but if you can, box them up and take them back. If this is not a friend, I would tell him not to bother with them if they come back, but You, will not do that will you, Harrison the Cruel! :) Help teach him how to home them to his loft.
Take care, Harrison Thom

Can you believe this guy has over 40 rollers and has evgot pairs in nest boxes. And he aint raised one single bird. Bcause he just wont listen. I paird them for him and they were settled then he goes and puts 5 homer racer cocks in with them. So of course all the birds have been doing all season is fending there nesting boxes . And eggs getting smashd. I told him the reason and all you get is (I NO). I have tried to help but its just going in one of his ears and out the other. To tell you the truth all these birds are going to do is case me more trouble in the futre. I will catch them in the garden and box them and take them to the local feather merchant. Thanx THOM for your advice harry the cruel.LOL H.K.R ROLLER LOFT UK HULL

Sounds like you tried to help this guy on more than one occasion. Your advise goes with the wind. I would trap the birds, take them to a petshop that buys them & get rid of them. If not, trap & drive those birds to a diff city & wish them the best and release them.

Also it just so happens that everytime i let my birds out 5 mins later do his go up. I have told him that I am trying to train my birds for comp and that they need air time. I have set times i let my kit out and would he be kind anougth to wait untill my birds have landed before he lets his out? He said yes no problem. But still he does it. so with him letting his birds out that drop after 5 mins And sit about on his roof all day bcause he has no controle over them whatsoever. they are causing my birds to drop early bcause his birds join my kit. I even got him his loft and started him up with birds. Bcause he said he had them a few years ago. BIG MISTAKE on my half. But thats life isnt it? You try to help somone and they always bite you on your bum. Just boxd 5 so will take them to feather merchant tommorow for £1 each thats all you get. The thing is they are good birds that i gave him and would be more then welcome back at my place but its just not worth taking the risk. Its a shame realy. Thanx for your feed back guys. Harrison, There is a saying, "No good deed goes unpunished"! The guy is a jerk! Deeper then the aggravation you feel now, is your character. Don't change my friend, you are one of the good guys! You tried to help and it was disrespected, it hurts, but the next person may remember you the rest of their life. Just keep being you, but learn, not everyone will return your kindness. A few will make it worth the trouble and that's enough. I'm sorry about the soap box, but I don't want you to be bitter over some fool.

If he released them after a year I suppose he wants to see them how they perform. But it went back to your place. That can happen given that you only lives near the place. I'll say, just catch them and give it back. I'll consider them as missing rollers. I suppose he wants them back. Does he know that they went to your place? I am not judging the man because each person takes care of his/her birds differently. Some keep their loft so clean, and some not so. Some mix their birds, some want to keep them pure. Whom I am to judge? If they, however, started dying, then something is very wrong. If he doesn't feed them or starve them, then that is not a good sign either.
That guy needs to get homer hens to mate with his homer cocks and have their own nest boxes.

Harrison what i would do is cull the birds. Why for one thing the person who you gave the birds to doesnt seem to care for his birds properly, you dont want them to come in contact with your flock or your birds might get some kind of sickness. and the other reason why i would cull them is when you fly your birds he lets his out,his birds will always screw up your birds you are trying to fly out. The reason why i say this is i did the same thing gave a kid some birds told him when I fly my kit please dont fly yours but when i fly my birds there he goes and lets his birds out his birds are fed all they want and when my birds land on my kit box his birds land with my birds and i dont like his birds on my kit boxes. I dont want to get any kind of health problem from his birds. just a thought. clayton

Hi ERROL, Thank you for your warm welcome. I had him out yesterday and he stayd out till dark. Then again today. I never give him a feed yesterday so he was hungry but still spookd by the loft(I ASSUME ITS BCAUSE OF THE COLOR). So i will lock him down for a couple of days. Well my young are coming on great at the moment. they are completly diffrent from last years young. They fly in all directions(figure 8)ect... Were as last year they would just do circles all the time. They are breaking more since flying this way as they break on almost every turn. Not perfect breaks but they are having a go. There is about 12 out of the 20 that are spinning and with good depth and qualitey. The rest still need time. As i only started breeding in march so they have plenty of time for improvment. I have noticed that they are getting abit unstable when landing so must not feed them straight away when i get them in (somthing I learnd from you guys on the site)lol. Last year i had quiet a few roll downs and splitt sertain pairs bcause of this. Since doing that upto now I havent had one roll down. One pair last year produced 4 roll downs and the son from that pair that I bread in 06 also bread 2 roll downs so I removed the main cock and his son from 06 from the loft and his hen paird to my red oddside as bread a great black oddside that spins its little head off also its nestmate is the yellow pide i posted about but am still yet to see that spin(it does roll) should i say tumble. So yes all round a good year so far(TOUCH WOOD). I have put alot of hard time, advice and knowledge into my birds this year that has been handed to me from you guys and that is one of the main reasons for me having a better year then my first one so i would like to thank everyone for sharing there knowledge, advice and proven methods with me. I hope that everyone is having a great time as i am? So ERROL now i have bored you to sleep how are you and your young doing? Have you had any comp flys? i realy wish i had a club to fly in local but at the moment there isnt one appart from the AERC witch i missd due to breeding to late. I tried to bread early but the weather was to cold. But all been well i will be there with this young kit flying yearling in the AERC next year. Well guys once again good look with your birds and keep um rolling. yours in roll Harrison H.K.R ROLLER LOFT HULL UK.
