If you don’t like to worm your birds or medicate them as you explained, when you give the birds a bath and put stuff in it to get rid of external parasite, you are also getting rid of internal parasite as the birds usually drink it.
No one here said to medicate birds just to medicate them. Prevention before the breeding season will save you tons of headaches and heartaches.

LOL.....like the ol'sayen goes...You can lead a horse to water but, You can't make him drink it.... An "ounce" of prevention is worth a "ton" of sure.. If you don't like peoples ideas and suggestion, why "Argue" about it??

On my last post where I said, "I blame Tony", I was joking. Shaun posted before me and said the same thing about Tony, I feel safe to say he was joking also. I don't think anyone knowingly attacked Tony, at least I wasn't trying to. Tracey

I think different areas have different worming problems. If in doubt, just get those droppings tested. I think for rollers with those screen floor will get less chance of acquiring worms. Obviously if your pigeons forage on the ground, then the probability of getting worms increases.

I have a bird that I have been flying for 2 yrs .now he stays away from the kit comes down early so I rest him for a week fed him up why because he felt light on my hand I send him back up and stil does it but for a bird who rested and was fed twice a day he should feel heavy and hard but no .so you guys that don't worm your birds do you cull a bird like this after you try everything..this is the way I see it if you gonna cull it anyway why not try worming him does it matter if you putting medication in it yea it does if you plan on eating the bird don't medicate it, so what I'm going to do now is give him wormout gel and see what happens...... ---------- Ralph.

hey Ralph, if the wormout get doesn't work for that bird, don't give up. maybe coccidiosis, or canker? i say that because they're often associated with 'going light'. ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

Update on that red bird .I rest it again for a week but this time I worm it for 2 days yogurt in water afterwards flew it this morning it kit well and perform more than it usually does and flew 40 minutes with the kit.so the worming and the rest did it well...the body is absorbing all the nutrients instead of the worm. ---------- Ralph.

Ralph, glad to hear your bird is better, and flying up to its potential. i wormed my birds 10 days after the first treatment (1 fl/oz per gallon water, repeated 10 days later) and followed each with probiotics or yogurt for a few days. ---------- Steve in Blue Point, NY

I worm my kit birds twice a year...Fall and Spring...for one I kill two birds with one stone....I worm as part of my comp prep....because like Tony said they dont talk to you...and i want them in tip top shape....Worming is preventative maintenance...and is not like meds where they can build up an immunity...Worm medication is POISON..in light dosages....
You dont need pro biotics after worming....
When I had livestock I wormed and vaccinated twice a year.......
My breeders get wormed before the breeding season....
Tony is right...most worms dont hang out of the pooper or are in the poop....they are stuck to the lining of the intestine......sometimes one will die and come out...but anyway....just my two cents.....I love Wazine....(made for swine and is gentle)...swine have stomachs like us so it has to be gentle.....Tony sent me some stuff...but I like Wazine better....the birds seemed happier after Wazine...I think the other stuff may be a little to strong.
